Better to have loved and lost, right?
If I could have a million dollars once, I would never need it again because I would spend and invest it wisely the one and only time I ever got it.
Depends on what it is. I think as a general rule, if it’s a material thing I’d rather never have it but if it’s an experience I’d rather have it once.
I would have the memories…
Better than never having the experience.
Well, since I’m doing so in my real life, I’d have to go with wanting something that I’ll never have.
Have it once. But only if I knew that I really wanted it.
Have it once, definitely. In many cases you’d find it wasn’t that big a deal to start with. Even if it did turn out to be just as fabulous as you thought it’d be, you’d still be grateful to have had it, even briefly.
sometimes you only need “that thing” once
and
sometimes it might be better if you didn’t get what you want
Believe me, it’s really bad having to downgrade.
If there is something you reeeeally wish for, two things may happen when you finally get it:
a) It turns out disappointment….blarch
b) You wouldn’t want to miss it anymore
So you’re kinda screwed both ways. Somethings are better left in your dreams
I would rather want something and not get it. It’s fun to dream. Kind of like the feeling of excitement that you get on your way to a vacation destination. On the way home, it’s a bit of a let down. You just want to go back.
If you get something, there will always be something else around the corner. Always wanting more. Dreaming is the fun without the let down.
“Be careful of what you wish for.”
Given that I’ve had both of these happen to me, I’d have to say it’s far better to want something and never have it. That way, you can’t lose it, and it doesn’t hurt so damned much.
If you’re referring to a bottle of Luis XIII, the answer is “yes.”
