It’s not surprising. It’s also not surprising that it’s complete bullshit.
Who the hell cares? Half the people handing down the punishment have probably smoked once or twice. Everyone is just covering their ass to satisfy the parents of America. Anyone else could care less what the dude does in his free time.
As someone who has been a joker, a smoker, and a midnight toker, I can say its complete bullshit. The guys is the fastest swimmer in the world. Get the fuck off his personal life.
With all of the more IMPORTANT problems going on in the world why the hell is it important whether or not he smoked pot? He wasn’t competing for heaven’s sake! He was at a party! Get off the guys case and let’s focus on some more important issues! If he shows up to a meet stoned then that’s a different story.
Another good example of crap. We need to educate our country on what substances are terrible. Weed is weak. A natural growing weed that has lots of benefits quit accepting other peoples laws that it is wrong. Let’s change these laws please. As far as for mr. Phelps use some caution in the future. Lose the camera friends. Good luck
I think it is ridiculous. Mr. Phelps biggest crime is that he got caught.
I don’t understand why his personal life matters. He’s an amazing athlete. Why can’t people respect that on its own merit?
This could have been a great opportunity for people to grow the fuck up about recreational marijuana use.
I smell bullshit too… If I had won 12 Gold Medals by the age of 23 I would be blazing down too! Hell, who wouldn’t?
Kellogg didn’t really have a choice, would have been the same for Wheaties…image is everything. too bad, but maybe a good thing for decriminalization. After all, how bad can it be when the worlds top athlete can indulge?
The a$$ who published the picture is a whole different kettle of fish, with friends like that who needs enemies? of course, law enforcement is in a predicament, they pretty much have to bring some sort of charges, no matter how unpopular. They can’t been seen as having double standards even though everyone knows they do….
Wow, are you kidding, he was suspended from USA swimming for taking one hit from a bong? They suspended their best athlete for one picture of him smoking a bong? That’s so stupid I can’t even begin to start thinking about it.
Hey Michael, come to Canada, we’d love to have you on our swimming team, plus you can toke up all you want and no one gives a flying fuck!
I hope his suspension gives momentum to the pro-legalization groups working to get their voices heard.
The problem is that he knew the rules before he used marijuana.
If I hired you for a really lucrative job—that paid tens of millions of dollars—and said that one condition was that you never, ever wear red in public, and then six months later you wore a bright red T-shirt and I fired you, whose fault would it be?
Yes, the requirement to not wear red is silly. Yes, I should pay you based on your performance at the job I actually hired you to do. But I made not wearing red a condition of the employment, and you knew and agreed to it before accepting the money. You decided that wearing red was more important than your job, which is certainly your call to make. I just followed through on what I said I would do at the outset.
I don’t know who the person who said this is, but I hope I see them around town (and with my sixth sense can instantly recognize who they are…. yeah, right) so I can tell them I lurve them.
Hahaha that’s awesome, Allie. :)
