Is it a general preference or does it depend on what your eating? Or do you just not like wine at all!?
had a quick search using the all new search function and didn’t find this question which surprised me. If its been asked, I apologise in advance!

It depends on what i’m eating… I always heard that you drink white wine with fish and red with meat. But I prefer Kendall Jackson Chardonnay whenever it’s available.
I can only do dark, really dry reds…merlot is my favorite. White wines make me feel sick.
Well, it depends on the meal. Red with bloodied meats, White with all else. Personally, pour me a healthy snifter of Courvosier, and it’s all good!!
Grapes of Glory!! It’s what’s for the Soul.
I prefer reds. Whites give me a headache.
@KrystaElyse I agree with ya a KJ Chardonnay is one of my fav white wines.
However 9 times outta 10 I like a serrah. Good red wine can’t be beat.
Really depends on what I’m eating. You wouldn’t want a light white for game, or a heavy red for light fish.
When it comes to “just drinking” I have a tendency to go with either Bordaux or rather sweet Burgundies.
I’m not a fan of any wine. I like… most other alcohol. I’m an equal opportunity alcohol lover… minus the wine.
After New Year’s I also am not a fan of Bailey’s or Kahlua. Nine blow job shots (yes, that is the name of the drink, not the act) in a row have made me want to give up on Bailey’s for good.
Red. More depth of flavor and complexity.
Yep, I generally also try & match it up with food but do tend to lean more on the claret side. I know the whole red with meat, white with fish bit. But, sometimes, especially with ovened fish, I really like some red. Shiraz seems to work for me. I’m probably just odd though!
Rosé anyone?
@Allie – lol. Went off tequila for a couple of years following one particularly eventful New Years. I know how you feel!
White. We keep trying reds hoping that we’ll like ‘em and always go back to white. Viognier is a fav these days.
We’re big on champagne, too! MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
on the rare occasions where I do have a sip, it will be red dry, usually cheap for some reason
Anyone a fan of Asti Spumante?
@krystaElyse—very sweet typically. You’d need to be a fan or it should pair with the food. A brut champagne is better for sipping and goes with most food, if you are after a sparkling wine.
@Dorkgirl – Yes, it is verrry sweet. It’s usally paired with dessert. I do enjoy a brut champagne as well.
@TaoSan – lol, aww it’s not that bad!
I’ve been liking Nobilo Sauvignon Blanc lately.
I like reds. Whites are too sweet for me.
I like Pinot grigio or zifandel.
Red red wine makes me feel so fine.
@KrystaElyse
Suuuugaaaaar, pure sugar :)
Fun aside, I grew up in Germany, and Asti would always be about the cheapest bubbly in the shelf, earning it the proud nickname “penner fusel”, which would translate into something like “street bum fuel” ;) Hehe! So it’s kinda real funny to see the prices here and the “Imported from Italy” bubbub around it :)
My wife loves it too though, myself, I get headaches like hell from it.
@TaoSan – Hahaha! That is so funny to hear because you’re right the prices are pretty insane here for certain bottles!
I like both. It just depends on what someone hands me.
@KrystaElyse spumante is just a tab sweet for my tastes…but I don’t do alot of sugar in everything lol. But I like it with desserts.
I just got back from the store, and picked up a really good sirah- 06, it’s called petite sirah. Greg Norman estates. Really great flavor.
@Allie: I hear ya on the blow jobs. :-/
I refuse to phrase that differently.
Wine generally makes me feel…odd. Not quite a headache but as if I can feel one coming. Last Thanksgiving we did have a white wine that was like sex in a bottle. If I find out what it was again I’ll be sure to post. I have no wine knowledge at all almost, but I know what my tongue likes. It was probably some ten dollar crap near the door of the grocery store.
I prefer white overall.
I love wine. I like red the best( Cab., Merlot, Pinot, Sheraz. I only like one white (gwertz).
I usually like red no matter what I’m eating or not. I have liked a few whites when I’ve tried particular suggested pairings with dinner, but that’s sort of rare. There are still certain foods that I prefer having beer with.
lurve to Buster, and to red wine!!
I like both for different things. I suppose, in the end, I prefer a really good cab because it goes so sinfully well with chocolate, and if we are talking favorites, I’m a lady that fits that stereotype for sure!
I like white better, but that’s not to say I don’t like reds by any means. For me, it does depend on the pairing with food. I’m not, however, a big fan of lighter blush wines. The best kind of wine, though, is free wine. I went gallery hopping last night – good times, good times.
Living in Oregon, we often get the dirty eyeball when we say we don’t like reds since this is the land of Pinot Noir. It’s like sacrilege.
I prefer whites – and I live in Oregon :D – but having said that, the reds that I have tasted and liked, beat all of the white wines I’ve had, hands down. The reds I’ve liked are just few and far between.
@KrystaElyse I Love Asti. I can drink the whole bottle in one sitting.
I used to love Thunderbird. I guess I like cheap white or blush wines. I wish I liked reds; they’re great for the arteries and so attractive but I
never developed a taste for them—we called Thunderbird: T Bird. haha
I also love the sweetest wine out there: Katawba.
I used to only drink whites, almost always rieslings. But that eventually led into me enjoying – no, loving reds – and really disliking whites. I’m okay with almost any red but I prefer malbec, tempranillo, chianti.
