It seems to be happening to lots of people. Flutherers, too?

I worry about it, but our stock continues to go up, and I’m working overtime just about every night. They cut our admin budget and will not replace anyone who leaves.

Nope, I am already unemployed.

I am already unemployed and having no luck finding a job. Keep sending resume but no one responds. It is quite depressing.

I’m pretty safe as I have senority, but I do worry about newer hires. My wife is a SDC/DD special education teacher and is in demand so I think she is safe.
I hope all of you stay employed. It’s a scary time.

Yeah, I work for one of the big banks.

Lost one of them yesterday, effective start of next semester. And I too work for one of the big banks, so yeah, I’m more than a little worried about the other one too.

We’ve had major layoffs. I think I am ok for now but am still keeping my fingers crossed.

My husband’s job has been in jeopardy for a year. He escaped two rounds of layoffs in 2008. Now his position is threatened again. Dark times.

My work has picked up. (A happy benefit for me, but it has happened because companies cut staff, and then use free lancers, which makes me feel bad for those people.)

A department store is opening in a nearby county here. They were planning a job fair, but canceled it, because they already had more than 2,000 applications for the 154 jobs!

A little…

No, I already lost mine.

I’m worried about not finding another.

Three months and counting.

I think we’ll be okay.

I have been out of work and looking for 1 year and 5 months, doing contract work and freelance. Everyone around here is laying off or stopped hiring.

At the end of this month I lose my cobra benefits.

This isn’t what I planned when I had kids. It’s different when you might only screw yourself out of a meal or something. I have started eating about 1.5 or so a day when I can. I probably don’t have to but it helps me sleep at night.

I am worried all right.

I’m not too worried, but there’s always the chance I could get laid off. I just started a new job over a month ago and I’m at the very bottom of the seniority list. Fortunately, it’s in a gov’t office working with forensic psychiatric referrals, so with the economy going the way it is, we’re likely to have more work, not less. It will all depend on government budgets, though.

My partner is a bit concerned. He just found out today that 7 managers and supervisors in the region are going to be laid off soon. It doesn’t sound like he’s likely to be one of them, but nothing is guaranteed. He’s really well respected in his company, fortunately, is one of the go-to guys and he made it clear a while ago that he was willing to relocate, if necessary. So we’ll just wait and see.

I’m not worried about losing my job. Public education doesn’t seem to be cutting back; at least in the fields where I have my endorsements and currently teach.

However, we are coming off of my husband being unemployed for eight months. The going through it was tough, but honestly, the getting caught up once he found a new job has been even harder. The cut in pay, too, has been an adjustment, but it’s all good. We’re healthy, have each other, and know our lives are what we make them!

I’m not worried about mine. There are a lot of other “istan” countries to invade before I’ll be out of a job. :)

Not anymore! Got notice this past week!

Bri_L's avatar

Sorry to hear it Empress! Hang in there!

marinelife's avatar

@EmpressPixie I am so sorry that happened. I wish you a fruitful and short search.

@Marina, @Bri_L : Thanks. I’m applying to school, so hopefully I can do that.

I worry, just because it is a sign of the times. I have no reason to believe I’ll get the axe, but that doesn’t mean it can’t happen unexpectedly.
