Am I the only one who still smiles when I hear President Obama?
Still, whenever I hear news reports about our new president, I can’t help but smile when I hear his name. Am I the only one who is still a bit giddy about his election?

#2 on team giddy reporting in.
edit :: I should add. I don’t expect him to fix everything. But I feel a lot better with him in control.
#3… it still seems like a good dream.
I think President Obama does have a fair amount of charisma, but when his opponents look at him that’s all they see.
Not just his name, but what he says, what he is signing, what he is doing. Giddy #4
Definitely not. He’s just gone into office and I know I couldn’t be happier about it.It seems like he can relate to everyday people and he seems really approachable. He’s my kind of president
:) smiled when I read the question; still smiling as I tap.
You are not alone. I suspect that will be true for some time. I have 8 years of no smiles about President Bush to make up for.
@Marina
That is something, isn’t it. It seems like everyone is ready to flaunt the fact that Bush was a shitty President after his terms are up, even his own Party.
Ehh. He already upset me. But, I’m still glad Bush is gone and that Obama is the prez.
“President Obama” sounds very nice. It almost surprises me every time I hear it; it’s a nice little reminder that the past eight years are over with. It does make me smile.
@Vinifera7 I am not a johnette come lately to the Bush-bashing bandwagon.
I was quite leery when he was first elected, but hopeful he meant some of his campaign rhetoric.
I was quickly and thoroughly disabused of those pollyanna notions.
I was astounded he was re-elected (although of course, he really wasn’t). The depth of his disregard for law terrifies me.
I am relieved, happy, ecstatic he is gone.
I would have voted for anyone else, but was proud and happy to vote for a man I am confident is honest, brilliant, caring, and responsible.
I was working out at the gym one day when I say him addressing the State Department. He spoke eloquently of how we must protect our country without abandoning the principles and beliefs that our country was founded on. I almost teared up.
If nothing else, I feel an increased pride that we have a president that is capable of speaking eloquently.
No way! I smile everyday! I thank my lucky stars that we finally have a sensible human being as our president at a time when our country is in desperate need of change! I am elated! Here is my smile! :-)
@Marina
I’m not accusing you of doing anything; merely commenting that I seem to have been noticing Bush bashing with an increased level of exuberance in general as of the moment Obama was named President Elect.
I am quite pleased and smile daily about President Obama.
It just feels like someone’s on the job, you know? Getting things done.
Apparently, you are not the only one. I, however, get a pit in my stomach.
I’m not sure what all the grinning is about.. except that on the surface Obama looks great.. he’s a good public speaker and he appears to be the cool, intelligent president America wants.. I also won’t be surprised if everyone hates him in a year
I’m grinning from ear to ear. President Obama sounds great and for us military people, ‘Commander-in-chief Obama’ sounds pretty damn good too.
I don’t think he’s a god. I think he has brains and he knows what he’s doing. He also knows better than anyone else what kind of obstacles he’s facing and what kind of opposition he will meet. I don’t think he has any illusions. He doesn’t expect to come through unscathed, and he knows some of those who think they love him now will hate him later. He can handle that.
I, for one, do not expect him to do everything the way I would do it. I also do not consider myself qualified to be president. I do expect him to do his damndest to get us out of the various messes we are in, none of which he made.
And I’ll vote for him again in four years, God willing.*

*Figure of speech.
Smiling here too. Still stoked.
Whenever I hear it, it’s as if it was the first time I heard it. I still don’t believe it’s true. Bush has been around so long, and I’d just gotten used to be cynical and expecting things to get worse and worse. It’s been like that for eight years. To tell the truth, I’d lost any sense that the American people could ever see anything straight.
But they have, and they elected Obama… excuse me, President Obama, and for the first time in so long, I feel hopeful about the future of the country. When I see him in pictures, too, it blows me away. He’s so young. It all seems so unlikely. Like living in a fairy tale. I surely hope he is up to his image, because lord knows, the country needs it.
And we do realize that we’re talking like newlyweds, don’t we?—all giddy and saying “Mr.” and “Mrs.” to each other and grinning and blushing?
For me, the honeymoon is over.
I personally am very proud that he is our president. What upsets me are the people who don’t realize he came into office during wartime and a recession, and are expecting miracles. I think he’s doing a wonderful job and will make all of the nay-sayers eat thier words. Smiling proudly!!!
The smile hit my face the moment the last votes were counted. It hasn’t left yet and I’m doubtful that it will. Obama obviously isn’t perfect, and he’s not Superman, but he’s certainly a hell of a lot better President than the one we had before.
