Last.fm and the local newspaper’s ratings.
I prefer last.fm as well. As far as movie reviews go.. I don’t pay much attention to them since critics seem to have opposite likes than I do.
last.fm, and I’m with Allie. Reviews = lies.
more than lies.. (because there’s not much to lie about on the facts of a film) .. the problem is we can’t rely on any of these sites because they basically collect the opinions of the mass, or even worse express those of a handful of critics. I agree with you gals on this, must say. so…where to find on the net some OBJECTIVE reviews, without ‘tomatometers or so.
I’ve found films that I love with either a very low rating or none at all..‘Smilla’s sense of snow’, for instance, last time I checked..
Factis, humanity hasn’t yet realised that: ALL IS RELATIVITY.
thank you for the responses, mates.
Cheers.

P.S.
google ‘Scaruffi’ ..you might find some very interesting music to discover on his site. He’s an Italian music critic. Though, many of his descriptions resulted quite reliable to me.
For what it’s worth, Allmusic and Allmovie don’t “collect the opinions of the mass” – they’re not Wiki sites.
Metacritic for films. They run the gamut of reviews for each film. I’ll read Pitchfork for music, but otherwise, last.fm to hear and judge for myself.
Prefer in what sense?
I prefer last.fm, but I use it as a social network for music. If I’m looking for reviews of movies I check metacritic.
