I'm searching for new music for my archive, would you be so kind to give a helping suggestion?
At the moment in particular, I’m searching for smooth Jazz – avantguarde – minimalist artist, with somewhat of lounge/chillout styles… what do you know… ?

I second Pandora, it’s amazing. Enter in the jazz you like, spend an hour or so rating the songs and you’ll have hundreds of new selections to add. :)
Good luck!
With last.fm you can submit your plays from iTunes and it will come up with suggestions, you won’t have to spend an hour or so rating songs, and it will automatically update every time you play a song.
Personally, I like Pandora best because of the shocking variety you’ll find and the intricate way everything is classified. Songs are tailored specifically to what you like. It isn’t based on everyone’s collective musical taste and random guessing. It’s based on rhythm, beat, instruments, tempo, emotions, everything.
Superior!
@ asmonet & @ wilhel1812 well, that’s very useful information ppl.. cheer..
Since I’m oversease though, I can’t seem to use pandora, I won’t allow access to users out of the US.. at least for the moment.. !gobshite.!
@Anatelostaxus – That’s horrible! Everyone should be able to experience Pandora :(
That. Sucks.
I’m guessing England?
Thanks to everyone who recommended that pandora site, now I can listen to Miles Davis until my ears bleeed. and in case you are wondering, that is a GOOD thing!
@KrystaElyse & @asmonet I know.. I feel conned.. yep.. UK.. constantly moving . between Italy and UK. not always easy to keep updated, you know.. travel, not net, a laptop breaks down.. Argh.. .. you ladies back in USA?
Yep! I’m jealous that you get to travel to awesome places though!
@evelyns_pet_zebra .. well, well…you listen on and get your eardrums piped up to the rhythm..
@KrystaElyse… that’s grand, some day I’ll ask you to update me on what’s going on back over there.. X ) I haven’t been back since…‘05..
anyways.. I’ll be going off now to bed, finally.. I think my insomnia has given me a chance tonight… another week of work awaits beyond the tricky veil of sunday..
Glad to have joined fluther.. glad to have already met pleasant people.. and thank you for your suggestions, ey.. meet up with you later..
cheers..
@KristaElyse .. good night/day to you ..X )
It’s not exactly jazz, but his music meets the rest of your criteria: Try Ottmar Liebert.
@Sorceren thank you very much for the suggestion.. you know omar faruq tekbilek, do you? nothing of the genre, but just thought I’d share it with you. X )
@Anatelostaxus — Thank you very much for the introduction! I lurve Tekbilek — so much that I’m downloading his “Mona” ringtone. Do you like Gipsy Kings?
oh yes.. quite a bit.. its rather unfortunate they’re not still in action.. a shame.. do you like strunz & farah or Rodrigo y Gabriela? Yes, Tekbilek is mystical…indeed
I ‘m gonna get old school here: Blossom Dearie, who died yesterday. Saw her obit this morning. :(
Here‘s a sample. RIP, Blossom.
Also, Bob Dorough. Heck, anyone who did music for ABC’s Schoolhouse Rock series in the 1970s is someone who’s probably got good music of the type you seek in their catalog.
@Anatelostaxus They’re not? I just saw them in concert in February 2007.
@Sorceren are you kidding? I knew nothing more of them… wow. Thank you ever so much for Suggesting Ottmar.. that’s class, cheers friend.
@aprilsimnel old school can get really good, I agree.. even though I’m not that fond of the style in general, I do have my ‘like-a-lots’...thank you very much, I will check..
Do you know David Sylvian or Nine Horses.. listen to these if you like the genre.. I strongly recommend. Intelligent music.
