Why do drunks snore so loudly?

My wife brought up that I had been snoring loudly last night (No, I was completely sober) and that brought to mind my wife’s last drunken evening. She was snored so damn loud that I’m surprised she didn’t set off the house alarm. That, in turn, reminded me of all the loud drunk snoring of friends and family through the years.
Anyone know causes this, anyway?

I have no idea, but thanks to my brother, I completely understand what you’re talking about.
You have a charming married life by the way. :)
Drunks have trouble maintaining their airway while sleeping. As their airway relaxes it becomes partially obstructed causing the snoring.
Yeah, I was just coming back, I remember in health class our teacher said alcohol was a muscle relaxant. So drunks also fart more in their sleep.
I have no idea if he was serious about the farting. But I kinda believe him.
@asmonet Stop. You are making drunks sound so romantic!
And getting me aroused as well.
You and me both, kid.

Plenty of sober people snore, particularly if they sleep on their backs with their mouths open.
