No, it doesn’t scare me that much. Do they have a chart for the Great Depression? Because I have a feeling this isn’t as bad as that was – for the time being, anyway.

I am so glad I am my own boss, but I suspect I’ll have to lay myself off if things get much worse.

And speaking of the Great Depression, why not a new WPA? There is a lot of work that needs to be done to roads and bridges, and if it would help Americans put food on the table, so much the better.

How is it scary? There are more of the age to work and more businesses and more everything. Not surprising that more got laid off, especially since this recession is a bit of a bitch.

exactly,

another wasted time statistic that is completely meaningless without taking in the whole picture. e.g. total population, total number of businesses etc. etc.

Well, I agree with you all a little.

But there are over 3 million people who lost their job within a 13-month timeframe. Where is the compassion?

I was involved in a layoff a couple of years ago. I couldn’t imagine competing for a new job in this current situation.

asmonet's avatar

Um, I got fired. Big deal. Life goes on.
I’m looking for a job now and going to school. It’s hard, but you make do.

I don’t need compassion, I need a paycheck.

You know what’s scarier? This.

And it’s pretty frickin’ hilarious too.

Bootstraps people.. Pull yourself up by them. Oh wait, how many people lost their jobs last month? 530K+. Shit, that is more then the amount of people in Maine that are employed. Carry on. Embrace inaction for political gain.

@KrystaElyse

Oh gosh that is hilarious! LAWL

KrystaElyse's avatar

Lmao. I know, right?? I love how they have the pictures and everything :P

I don’t even know what to say rofl.

Publix, WHY PUBLIX WHYYYYYYY?

SoapChef's avatar

Cause it sounds like pubic. Which are conspicuously missing on that whack-jobs playmate.

EmpressPixie's avatar

Please note, they did not chart the 80s which would be important to see.

Still, I’m newly competing for a job and frankly, yes, it is scary.

jonsblond's avatar

It’s scary for many of my relatives that are in their 50’s that have just been laid off or are about to be. They are now overqualified for the jobs that are available.

Re: the video. looks like he could use a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup defense.

or were they part of the sex?

Judi's avatar

@SoapChef; it may sound like Public but now ot sounds X rated.

imhellokitty's avatar

Those employment numbers sure ain’t purdy, but there’s really a lot of jobs out there. You can’t let numbers scare you, well, unless your beavis / butthead.

flameboi's avatar

Not for me but for the people coming behind

La_chica_gomela's avatar

those are the ugliest blowup dolls i’ve ever seen. come on, man, if you’re going to take them in public/to publix, at least splurge on some pretty ones!

@La_chica_gomela: Or at least get a Real Doll, then again if he was buying clothes at Target I don’t think he could afford them.
