I was thinking that she’d outlive him!
Dragons! Ha!
Many predict DoomsDay will occur in 2012. I don’t think she’d ever hand it over. If she did, that would be the perfect time.
I don’t think so. She seems to be the type of woman who will do her duty until she dies, and she seems to be quite healthy at the moment. I think when Elizabeth goes, the monarchy will go. I don’t feel that Charles has had the respect she does and he won’t be the sort of person who’d be able to keep the monarchy afloat.
I think Prince Charles should let it skip his generation. William has the heart of the people.
No, unless he has her thrown from the train.
@gailcalled – :-), thanks for my first laugh of the day.
Why should she give it up? The crown is handed over upon the death of a royal. Not upon retirement, so that everyone can get a turn. And who wants Queen Camilla? The longer that is delayed the better.
@peziak – you make a good point. Thanks
So long as she doesn’t throw over her hand…
@peziak: I was under the impression that one of the conditions of marrying Charles was that she is excluded from that position. As far as I’m aware she got a shit title so she could marry him.
<——Knows too much about this stuff.
@peziak – Yeah, she’s Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, which is a real enough title, as Charles is also the Duke of Cornwall as well as the Prince of Wales. He derives his (big-ass) private income from his duchy. Duchess of Cornwall is not a bad title to have, considering.
But it ain’t no Queen. :)
if Charles were to become king, his wife could not simultaneously be queen. Blood line matters.
Prince Philip is the Duke of Edinburgh and ER II’s Consort, I think (doing this from memory).
Charles is never going to get it. It’s going to be passed straight to William. It just makes more sense that way. Charles is getting up there in age himself.
@gailcalled & @asmonet – You’re both right, Camilla will NEVER be Queen Consort. She’s divorced, and of mistress stock, to boot. The people would have both their heads. Her title will be the Princess Consort, analogous to Prince Philip. But I agree, it should pass straight on to William, if they’re going to bother keeping the thing.
I wish I hadn’t seen that hidden paparazzo picture back in November of William taking that riding break. It was TMI. Let’s say that he’s a very healthy h- , I mean, young man.
