Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father
This is a must see. I have never cried so hard in my life.
Earthlings—even though I still eat chicken :(
Hurricane on the Bayou
Sex Slaves (Frontline)
Maquilopolis
Does Planet Earth count?
i really loved chicago 10. it was very powerful yet it definitely kept my interest, was pretty silly at some points, and was undoubtedly really unique.
also, there was this dateline (i think) thing on mental disorders in the homeless. it was really eye-opening/heart-breaking.
i don’t watch documentaries often but i loved those so much.
“Race: The Power of an Illusion” is really good too.
One of the most compelling that I have seen recently was ken Burns’ The War. I learned much about WWII I did not know, and it was so compelling it changed and enriched my feelings about the war and its impact on American society.
I really like documentaries. A few I can think of are:
The Devil’s Playground, which is about Amish teenagers living outside of their communities.
Capturing the Friedman’s is pretty disturbing.
I’m not sure about the name of it but there is a documentary that chronicles the lives of women with eating disorders that is very compelling.
For something different, both Before Stonewall and After Stonewall are both great.
Fuck
awesome argument that this is the greatest word ever
Sundance Channel has a lot of documentaries.
