Is there a place online where someone can go to post random thoughts without them being required to be in thread (forum) or question form?

Random thoughts run through everyone’s head but what if you just want to get ‘em out somewhere? Where’s a good place to throw out things like that?
Everything from long essays to one liners. Poetry to jokes. Life stories to sci-fi adventures.
Does such a place exist?

What about Twitter? Or if you need more than 140 characters, you could always start a personal blog.
I’m not sure, but I hope there is – great concept! I don’t count twitter – that limits you.
There’s also Less Memories if you just want to keep notes of things.
Why does it have to be online? When you have ideas in your head, sometimes it helps to doodle or draw or do any other things you can’t normally do with a word processor. Just buy a notebook.
Year, srsly. Blog or tweet your thoughts!
I’d recommend WordPress. It’s open source, free, and (almost entirely) ad free. It is also integrated with tons of blog editors. I like Scribefire, you can edit right within Firefox!
@Mtl_zack: Yea, but I could have just as easily made the question to say “Where can I buy a good notebook?”
I have a xanga blog account, and that’s where I post my randomness. Of course, it is driven by popularity, and I ain’t none too popular anymore. Comes from being an asshole, I suppose.
Twitter is best. You can even make it private (friends only!) if you want.
The nice thing about Twitter is that there are many clients, so you can tweet random things/thoughts whenever the mood strikes you, wherever you are.
I feel like I heard of such a site, where you post snippets of things anonymously for others to browse. I want to say the name was something about a moth, but I’m having no luck remembering.
I agree, a blog sounds best if you going to write long stuff. Or if you are confessing stuff do it annomously on group hug
It’s also go for laughing at the shocking stuff people do or think and feel the need to confess/tell about.
I’ll second (or third) Twitter. But if you want to be able to post more than just 140 chars of text, maybe something like a tumblelog is for you.
I’ve been reading the posts at GroupHug and… wow. People have issues. After reading 20 “I love him but can’t tell him. I’m scared. I suck.” posts and 15 “I slept with my best friend’s bf” I come across a few more serious ones that even (almost) make me care.
“my life is not worth living. i have absolutely no friends. it’s july and so far i’ve spent the summer with no one. nobody’s called me and i don’t talk to anyone online or whatever. i don’t like to go outside the house because i hate most people. i just sit in my room and play grand theft auto all day or watch vh1. i think i’m going to kill myself.”
@kullervo Awesome site. Thanks :)
blogspot.com
i’m just getting into it, but i love it already.
@Sakata you there is some creepy stuff on there. Sometimes I feel sorry for people, sometimes I think people are awful for what they have done. I suspect some of them are half truths or down right lies. Still good for laughs if you don’t take it too seriously though.
Shame it’s on lock down right now. The site eliquently puts it:
The site is not accepting new confessions because of some spamming loser who probably jacks off thinking about his father. I have too many things going on to deal with this right now. Sorry for the inconvenience.
@kullervo & @Sakata

One need always be careful when dealing with these types of posts. The problem is the flippant response when someone is really hurting. And if there is serious abuse it’s only ethical to shut down a site or blog that consistently gets that response. We have to be careful. There was a recent question (today is March 22, 2009) that was dismissed by the Moderators here that was as follows-
“Do you ever feel invisible?”
It was squelched by the moderators from what I understand based on content. Maybe it seemed silly? But reading between the lines you realize that the question expressed someone who may actually feel that they have no one or no one who cares whether they live or die. From that reaction, this person left the site and so we need always be very careful when dealing with someone who is at the end of their rope. I am not implying that that person was necessarily at the end of their rope, for I don’t know.
But some people are not dealing with a bungee cord but rather a noose.
