Are You Looking for your birth family?

Asked by MissingFamily (2points) February 12th, 2009

Do you want to find your birthmother, birthfather, or siblings? Is something fueling your desire to find them now? Getting married? having a baby? being deployed?

You’re obviously kind of spam, but not quite over the threshold and also willing to insinuate that you want people for a TV show. It’s weird. I want to flag you, but am more curious to see how this plays out. I will have to watch this question.

But, um, no. I know where all my family members are.

No, I am fortunate enough to have lived with my true family all of my life (I was not adopted). However, the one case that I personally know of where the birthparents were reunited with the adopted child turned out very badly. The birthparents enticed the child (mid teens) to come back “home” with them and she did. When she did life was horrible and she eventually moved back in with her adoptive family.

@EmpressPixie I hope this plays out in a way that nobody is hurt. . .

Dude, this isn’t Maury Povich.

@Nimis It was just the most relevant thing I had to the question. I suppose I could have just answered “no”. Perhaps that would suit you better. . .

Nimis's avatar

@Baloo72 That was not directed towards you.
Mostly, I was just agreeing with EmpressPixie.
The OP sounds like they’re recruiting for a day time talk show.

@Nimis Terribly sorry then. There are plenty of people in the collective that don’t seem to know how (or just don’t) use the @ feature. I suppose I was assuming (you know what happens when we assume) that the question wasn’t coming from a “dude”. Sorry once again. *makes embarrassed face

@Baloo72 No problem. Also partially my fault.
Am kind of lazy about using the @ feature myself.
And have a terrible habit of calling everyone dude.

Maybe they mistook this site for Craig’s List?

@MIssingFamily – I know exactly where my birth family is. I also know where my children’s birth families are, so no, I’m not looking for them. Thank you for asking.

@Blondesjon I grew up near San Diego. Sometimes I lapse.

Once on a trip to New York, this waiter pinpointed where I was from. Not just California or even Southern California, but from San Diego. Kind if embarassing.

I tried when I was younger. I guess I wanted to meet someone who looked like me and just know what that’s like. I also wanted to know my ethnic background. I don’t know what the heck I am. I finally gave up looking after years with no success.

@Nimis…dude :(

@loser…the same as you said minus the “when I was younger…” and plus “for family medical history”.

@loser – if you have a few bucks to spare you can discover your ethnic background through a DNA test these days. One example is http://www.familytreedna.com/.

My father did it recently and discovered what he had long suspected, that on his side genetically we are European Jews who apparently converted and hid their secret from future generations. It’s a good thing our family was kicked out of Germany by the Kaiser.

WHile solving some general questions, it can also give you an idea of some common genetic traits that you might want to watch for.

I am searching for my brother Derek Scott Lewis.
I don not know too much about him other than he was born June 11, 1987 in St. Albans Vermont.
His adopted Parents are Tanya & Kirk Lewis.

Why do you want to know? Are you looking to assist people in finding their family members?
