Is there a better final scene?
…than the one in Luc Besson’s Le Grand Bleu (The Big Blue)
It’s such a beautiful and haunting end to the film. I don’t want to describe it in case there are any folks that haven’t seen it. For those that have and want a recap, here’s a video.
What are your favourite final scenes?

Fight Club
Boogie Nights
Dr. Strangelove
The Usual Suspects
Real Genius
Silence of the Lambs
Pulp Fiction
Chinatown
Lost in Translation
(which I just finished watching and re-appreciating)
Dont Look Now
Empire Strikes Back
Memento (which is actually the beginning)
Fargo
The Thing
Blair Witch Project
A Simple Plan
Halloween
Pan’s Labyrinth gives me goosebumps every time I see it
I love the final scene from Some Like It Hot.
My husband’s (the movie buff) favorites:
Paths of Glory (Huge)
The last shot of Queen Christina (raises a good historical movie to a great film)
Dr. Strangelove (we both vote for this one)
La Strada
Solaris (the original Russian version—incredibly depressing, but great ending)
@AC Yes!
@AstroChuck ditto that
say anything
silence of the lambs
Nothing too deep, but great anyway:
The Sixth Sense
and I’ll second Memento and The Blair Witch Project.
I think the ending for Repulsion is very striking.
