Could be a mild thing like you were surprised that your kids got ready for school by themselves or big like you got a bonus.
Anyone have a surprise- good or bad?

Waking up to find that 49 people lost their life in the 2nd airplane crash in a month… :-(
My grapefruit was sour.
I know that seems logical, but I went through a streak of super delicious, sweet grapefruits, and I was really hoping to keep it going. Nope. Sour.
The lack of traffic while driving in really surprised me. That’s what happens when the buses are forced to stop striking and service resumes. Plus it’s a long weekend Friday, so many people have taken the day off.
Someone I think of as smart and a leader danced on the grave of a resigning board member very publicly in a “Furthermore, you never pulled you weight, etc.” email that was totally unnecessary and will cause ripple-effect damage.
@dynamicduo OMG. A bus strike? That’s officially my new nightmare. Buses/trains are my only method of transit other than my feet. That would be really quite awful. Eeeeeek!
I was totally not thinking this morning and forgot to put on a bra. I just put on one of those tank tops with a shelf bra in them and then my dress over it. Walked out the door.
I mean its not like i’m huge, I am actually small chested, still embarrassing.
It was exactly that, Dog. My son got up early and was downstairs dressed, with a bowl full of cereal (he wasn’t actually eating it). He’s done this four days this week. He usually sleeps to the last second (he’s 9). Anyway, this morning his door was closed, so I assumed he’d gone back to his old ways, but, no! My wife told me she had closed the door. I was surprised!
@EmpressPixie – awful was an understatement. First, some background. I live in Ottawa, Canada’s capital city, and the bus service is a city-run service called OC Transpo. The bus drivers are a part of a union. They chose to start striking December 12th, right when the worst of winter started. It was a back and forth squabble from the union and the city, both sides refusing to give in towards finding a solution and getting back to work. We heard many stories about people walking 3 hours each way to work in snow and wicked winds, people getting in trouble for providing an “illegal taxi service” which was simply carpooling and taking more money from people than only the cost of gas. Many people were fired or had to spend all (or more than) their wages on taxis to get them to and from work. The strike was forced to end when our government came back (our Prime Minister had prorogued Parliament until the 27th of January to avoid a political squabble, that’s another story altogether) and was going to force the city and union into binding arbitration. Two hours before, the city and union announced… that they were agreeing to binding arbitration. Last weekend (February 7th) was when the service started back up partially, and it’ll be a few more weeks until all the routes are back, what with the buses needing maintenance. I feel safe in saying it was the most ridiculous strike I’ve ever seen, and both sides came out looking like squabbling losers. Almost two full months without running buses. Completely pathetic for the Nation’s Capital City.
Drew Peterson (the guy who’s last wife went missing and he’s a suspect in the tub drowning of his second wife) is AGAIN back with the 24 year old who left him last week. She claims they’re engaged to be married in June/July. He’s 55.
My boss isn’t here today. Good surprise.
@blondie411, why don’t you let ME be the judge of that?! Send pictures!!! (hehehe)
oh @Mr_M wouldn’t you like that! However I think you would have my boyfriend to deal with!
Talk about dress down Friday!!
What if he promises he’ll only look, and not touch?
Hey, Daloon! Speak for yourself!!! I’d touch! I’d touch!!!
(I assume we’re NOT talking about her boyfriend’s!)
Me first, @Mr_M! Me first!
(Boyfriend? What boyfriend? Did you fall for that?)
Woah woah, I think some dirty boys are out there need to go out cruising for some love this v-day weekend.
Sorry no previews about the size, I guess you will just have to take my word for it.
My boss gave me a bottle of wine for Valentine’s Day. Totally unexpected and lovely. I LOVE knowing my bosses think about me and want to do little nice things for me. Job satisfaction FTW.
What surprises me is how fast I can get a project completed and still have time to fluther.
My boyfriend is Russifer on here btw…but he almost never answers questions…
Put my words on a picture?? Whattt!?! Remember I’m blonde!!
What surprised me is that my daughter and I made it to the high school (I was driving) without having a disagreement! And she asked for $20 for a board game and I gave it to her!
@blondie411, well there you go! Send me the pic and I’ll put the words on it!! What ARE friends for!!! (Only kidding, @Russ. Only kidding!)
of course your only kidding, you better be, otherwise we wouldn’t be great friends!
A youngish friend of mine told me her husband left her for a younger woman. This is the third time. (My friend was wife #2.)
Then I bumped into a gay male friend outside the Post Office. HE told me that he and the husband had fooled around recently in one of the after-dark gay rest stops off our local parkway. I am still naive in many ways and was surprised.
That I didn’t have a hangover. And that I actually did give that person my phone number. Eek.
Surprises of today?
-Waking up late was a surprise to me.
-Timing in showering + stopping to get an energy drink AND making it to campus on time AND being able to find a parking spot AND having time to prettify myself in the car AND making it to class on time with the whole waking up late thing..big ol’ surprise to me.
-Getting text’d by cute boy during first class.
-Having to do no work but watch a video in my second class.
-Not being shiverishly cold outside.
-Being in a good mood.
I’m only hoping for more!
Let me be the one to clear it all up – I am a very lucky guy, in every way possible.
I just got two bottles of mead in the mail. Two free bottles of mead. FREE BOOZE IN THE MAIL.
I’m surprised AND gleeful.
@EP, actually you didn’t. Your mailman’s a wino and that’s where he keeps it sometimes.
@Mr_M: Well he’s not getting it back!!
I was surprised by a call from a client who was so happy about my work for her she had to tell me. It is rare to get such personal feedback and it was awesome.
I was also surprised by the rain that is pouring outside the studio window.
Lastly I was surprised by a good friend and fellow artist who was picked up by an agency. Tonight I will crack open a bottle of Champagne in her honor!
Life is GOOD!
I spent 3/4 of the day troubleshooting an error that I wasn’t expecting – that counts.
The number of answers that a question about poop can attract. I guess I really need to adjust my expectations.
1) Milo sent me a valentine’s card somehow. He knows he’s not allowed to cross the street. But still, I liked it.
2) We lost power again for the past three hours. The only thing that helped was my new miner’s lamp. That gave me both hands free for yet again running a fire in the wood-burning stove and peeing outside.
3) That Jayne voiced my views on poop questions. I didn’t want to be the only anti-excrement-discussion flutherer here.
Poop questions- yeah lurve!
Poop happens. or should I say excrement happens?
