i like the non CGI stuff of the first trilogy better
It depends on how you define “better.” The first trilogy was light years ahead of other movies. The movies were visually astounding because of all of the really hard angles they had to film at to get the models in enough detail. With the new ones, the angles are just straight, standard movie angels, because with the 3D graphics, you can just hide parts of it to get the camera in.
With that said, the 3d graphics in the new ones were pretty intense, but they are about par with other movies with the same technology of the age.
The first trilogy wins in my book.
uh correct me if I am wrong, but all star wars movies had the best graphics and special effects for their given time. with the exception of episode IV because it was the first one and had a much lower budget, but still they managed to pull some cool stuff off even for that.
I would have to say the first trilogy, but I have only ever seen the digitally remastered version. The origional trilogy was parsecs ahead of its time (it isn’t a measure of speed silly Han) while the newer ones have good special effects but, so do most blockbusters these days.
When compared to the stuff that other companies were producing at the time, the new trilogy has terrible computer effects in my opinion. In terms of achievement in visual effects, the original trilogy was truly remarkable.
However, if think that the quality of the visual effects is not important when they are used badly, what’s important is how they are used, and even though the original trilogy was spectacular, nothing can top the opening sequence of Revenge of The Sith. That shit was tight.
But then it’s a cyclical argument because it could be argued that such cool uses of visual effects could only be produced because they had the technology to create them…
