Why doesn't Fluther have an "Online Now" option or maybe a members list currently on Fluther?

Well the questions kinda explains it all, but I think I would appreciate this feature to know if at 3AM Fluther is dead lol.

I don’t think it’s necessary, honestly. It’s not a networking or social site, it’s a Q&A community, the social aspect is second. And what purpose would it serve? We don’t have timestamps, why have that? And besides, it’s been brought up before and nothing happened. I don’t expect anything will now.

I would also worry it would discourage people from posting in the slow periods and increase traffic in the busy periods, perpetuating the ‘problem’.

I agree with you asmonet, and I have thought that there could be a number of very good reasons why they haven’t done something like that. I suppose sometimes I get curious how many people are currently on the site. Maybe even like XX people on fluther right now would be sufficient.

I know I would personally wait for @asmonet to be online before posting.

I am always “on” the site in that I never log out. So it would have to be something that only accounts for users who are actively using the site.

I don’t see what the point would be if it only gave a number, because simply knowing that so many people are ‘on’ the site doesn’t tell you whether anyone is going to answer a particular question. If it told who is on the site it would bother me. I wouldn’t really want anyone to know when I’m browsing the site but not answering; I like my anonymity at times.

I think it is a good idea, but do not need to have it. Good idea, though.
Trust me, these stubborn Jellies do not want change—and I might be one of them at times.
