Very much so. All exercise is is stretching your muscles, tearing them, and letting them heal – whether you do it by lifting weights or using a resistance band really doesn’t have an effect on the end product. Resistance bands are a great tool to use because they’re cheap and they don’t take up any space – but they’re easy to forget about for the same reasons. I would not focus solely on resistance band training for my exercise, but I would recommend (and personally do) make it a part of my exercise routine.
YES! They’re a low-impact, yet really effective way to get exercise as part of an overall routine that includes cardio. I’ve also found that with resistance bands I lengthen and tone muscles, instead of bulking them up.
Like dynamicduo states, other benefits are that they are cheap and portable and easy to forget, but they’re also easy to throw into a suitcase and travel with.
absolutley! I need to get back at it. Ok, you guilted me… to the gym I go.
Yea, my trainer tells me to use them at home. I am on the computer too much, and I don’t get to work out my upper body much, so these exercises are really good for me, but make sure to switch it up and use different kinds of things like weights and an exercise ball too!
wow, that was quite the run on sentence.
Yes, I’ve used them off and on for about a year. I love them. The variety of uses for them is endless. I sometimes use them in conjunction with an exercise CD called “The SWAT Workout”. For this workout, you would use the tubing, rather than the bands. People will argue over which are better, the tubes or the bands. I like the bands better because if at all possible I like to work out in my bare feet or stocking feet. Resistance tubing would require wearing sneakers for some exercises.
