Why do you think that is? What goes through your head when you know that you should be doing something, but, you just put it aside…for now?

I’ll get back to this question later.
I procrastinate way too much. When I know I should be doing something i’ll always say “oh I can do that later, I have enough time.”...then before you know it it’s an hour or two before the deadline and i’m just starting the paper! I usually find though that my best work happens when i’m in a time crunch…I know I really shouldn’t rely on that.
YES. Other things go through my head. “Oh, I should.. but I’d rather..”
Neil Fiore addresses the topic well in The Now Habit. Unfortunately, I haven’t gotten around to finishing it (no kidding.) One of his explanations is that we procrastinators are not lazy, but that we’re perfectionists, and we are afraid of making mistakes. So rather than taking on a difficult task, we work on the easy tasks first.
@EmpressPixie That’s pretty much what I say to myself, as well.
@simpleD I totally agree the with perfectionist thing. Interesting.
to the fullest extent of the word.
i hate it.
@simpleD – Yes. I get that nightmare scenario in my head that I’ll do something I put my blood, toil, tears and sweat into, but it’ll be awful and then that fisheye lens thing where everyone’s pointing at me, laughing and calling me “Loser” pops up. Suddenly, it occurs to me that the kitchen floor needs a good mopping.
Mopping. I can do that without fucking up!
Maybe I should get that book.
Yup. But then when things pile up, for some reason I work better under pressure. I do think that perfectionist thing comes into play though.
Here are the top 10 reasons I procrastinate:

Yes I’m a procrastinator – procrastinating right now as a matter of fact.
I think that I typically just don’t want to do the task that needs to be done, so I put it off for as long as possible. As for what’s going through my head “Well, looks like time for fluther.”
sorry it took me so long to answer this question.
