Which art brand?

Asked by cinderflubbin (56points) February 19th, 2009

Just wondering, but does anyone actually like Rose Art? If not, is it Crayola that wins you or some other brand?

You do not state the purpose- as in creating childrens art or fine art but since crayons are a keyword I will assume kids art.
Crayons should NEVER be made in China due to lead content. Lead is a common additive to colors. In the USA crayons are lead-free.
Less expensive brands usually do not have as dense a pigment load as the higher end brands. Thus the colors could be less vibrant and might not
be archival- the colors shifting or fading over time.

I have never tested crayons so I cannot suggest brands.

When it comes to crayons, it has to be Crayola.

crayola > roseart, regardless of age or project.

Rose Art crayons don’t have enough color in them. They look transparent. Give me Crayola every time.

Drawings done 50+ years ago with Crayola crayons are still bright and gaudy (although the paper is often yellowing and brittle) so they are archival enough for me.

Crayola for crayons. Rose Art for other stuff.
