Why does all rabbit food contain animal products?

Asked by mollyg (30points) February 19th, 2009

I have a beloved friend. His name is Pippin. He is a bunny. I want to feed him the best rabbit food, as natural and healthy as possible. I do not want to feed him junk, especially not animal products. Rabbits are herbivores (just like me!), but all packaged rabbit pellets that I’ve seen have vitamin D3 in them. D3 is made from animal products, D2 is make from plants. I do not want to feed my rabbit an animal product. What do I do? Is there a vegetarian rabbit food out there somewhere? Help!

Is he a killer bunny rabbit? With huge fangs? Would he nibble your bum if he got the chance?

We have a natural food co-op where I live that carries vegetarian pet food. Perhaps there is one near you. Short of that I would suggest looking on the Internet.

Because corpses are cheap.

I understand why D3 is in rabbit food (though I’m not pleased), but I really want to know where I can find rabbit food without D3. Help!
