What does it mean to be Bi-curious?

Asked by emmy23 (256points) February 20th, 2009

Does it mean that you like girls and guys for sure or what. I mean I no thats what bi-sexual means. So where does bi-curious come in? I have never really got that.

And how do you no if your bi or not. I mean I LOVE guys but sometimes i wonder what it would be like to kiss a girl. Is that normal?

It generally means that you are curious about the opposite sex of the one you are primarily attracted to. So if I am primarily attracted to men and I was bi-curious, I would be curious about making out or having sex with a woman. I might try it out to see if I like it, but would not expect to become completely bisexual or give up my original preference to men.

According to Wikipedia, Bi-curious is a term used to refer to someone who does not identify as bisexual or homosexual but feels or shows some curiosity in a relationship or sexual activity with someone of the same sex.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with that, and in fact it’s normal. You really shouldn’t feel pressured to define yourself though just yet. Putting on a label can make you feel strained to fit into it, especially if you’re not exactly sure how you feel. My advice to you is that you should explore your sexuality (safely of course!) first and see what you like.

Those people that say “I experimented in college”.

@KrystaElyseof course, there’s nothing wrong with bisexuality as well :P

Makes me realise that bisexuality and homosexuality are weird terms… You into both sexes when you’re bisexual, but if you’re into just the other sex, you’re not homosexual. :P

@Vincentt – Nope, there’s nothing wrong with bisexuality either! Or any sexual preference for that matter. I was just pointing out that it’s not so important to label yourself one way or the other just yet…if at all. Labels are too confining.

Vincentt, “homo” means “same”, not “one”. “bi” means two. “hetero” means mixed. The names make complete sense. Both homosexuals and heterosexuals are unisexuals, if you want to use the corresponding term to bisexual…

or “monosexual”, I suppose

@KrystaElyse – of course I got the point, that’s why it was in whisper with a :P at the end. There’s no intolerance on Fluther ;-)

@Mritty – ah. of course. I knew I was missing something :)

You are sexually attracted to the same-sex and have the urge to try it out. No curiosity without attraction.

“I LOVE guys but sometimes i wonder what it would be like to kiss a girl.” That’s bi-curious! And I think people who say they haven’t felt that way at some point are either lying or fooling themselves. Or they’re just boring. I can’t imagine being that incurious.

“I kissed a girl and I liked it” is a song about a bi-curious woman.

In my experience, it means that the person is bisexual or homosexual but hasn’t yet admitted it.
