Do you remember this commercial?

Asked by SuperMouse (30853points) February 20th, 2009

Do you remember this? If you do (or even if you don’t), does it make you kind of sad? The ILGWU was absorbed by another union in 1995 as its power and membership had been so severely diminished. They don’t write catchy jingles like that anymore that’s for sure – they also don’t actually make much clothing in the United States anymore.

Yes, I remember it very well. Thanks to the balance of trade, not only is it hard to find a union label these days, it is also difficult to find one that says “Made in USA.”

I don’t remember that. I do know a Pabst Blue Ribbon can saves Union Made in Milwaukee Wisconsin though.

I remember that! It really is a sad. Is anything made here anymore? My Grandmother used to belong to that Union.

I sure do. I’ve kind of given up looking, though.

Not only do I remember it but for some reason my little seven year old ass used to hum it to himself when he was absorbed with some little seven year old task. I haven’t thought about that song in years.

thanks for the smile

I don’t remember this ad, even though I was around and watching TV.

I remember it. Sad? Naa. The union workers got screwed by their greedy unions. I feel badly for the people but not for the union.

aw, that was so cute! i love older commercials, they’re much more enticing than current ones.
it is pretty sad that a country that takes so much pride in being superduper american won’t even make anything for themselves though i do live in it, and i can’t make anything (yet) either, aside from simply crocheted pillowcases and scarves.

I remember this ad. At the time, everyone didn’t look so dated.

@skfinkel, it never ceases to amaze me how dated those old commercials look! Even commercials from the 80’s look that way to me.
