How can I control the release from a 12 gram CO2 cartridge?

I need a valve or something that uses a trigger to release bursts of CO2. Just like a CO2 airsoft gun. Is there anything I could get at a hardware store that would get the job done? Better yet, any simple device I could make with some household materials?
