What are some good persuasive arguements?
I have a pesuasive speech I have to give on Tuesday and I am having a lack of creativity coming up with a topic. It has to be something along the lines of The benefits of wearing your seatbelt, or voting. Basically I have to try and convince people to do something. What are some good ideas

I like “You either pay me every week or I’m gonna burn your wife”.
Oooh, ooh… why you shouldn’t do meth. Just print some pictures out and stand there and hold them. No speech needed.
I think it would be funnier to write about unpersuasive arguments.
Did I mention that my goal is to graduate one day :P
What to do with good advice, that really isn’t good,
or
How to find ideas for topics on persuasive speeches.
Persuade people
– to become vegetarian
– to study a foreign language
– to practice etiquette
– to learn to play a musical instrument
– to travel abroad
– to cut down on sugar consumption
– to travel only on surface roads and avoid freeways
– to do volunteer work
– to buy newspapers
or—less seriously
– to dye their hair in different colors
– to purchase a caseload of cinnamon
– to wear mismatched shoes
– to text using complete grammatical sentences only
That should do for starters.
Persuade people to recycle.
the one my parents always used was “Cuz I said so!” Oddly enough, it worked for me.
I did one in college and I tried to persuade people that aliens (the space men kind, not Korean nail artists) were real. I can’t remember very well, but I don’t think it sold.
—to give blood
—to garden
—to eat locally grown/produced food more often
—to mentor a child
—to legalize cannabis
@laureth before you even type anything…
The whole “gay choice/in birth thing”
First in mind.
But try to watch their facial expressions and make sure they aren’t getting the wrong idea.
hahaa!
A good topic could be on the importance of continuing to dine out during a recession.
(FYI I was kidding about the Gay Choice/Birth thing!!)
Anyways, reading what other have put, you can always count on @Jeruba. Lurve.
Try to make it something that you can find enough information about, is not too odd, and is something you are interested in.
what do you do that you think it is important for other people to do? drink less coffee? eat more junk food? spend less on luxuries? play sports?
think about what you have learned in your other classes that were convincing to you… is there an author or book you really like and learned something that is applicable in your life?
or you can look to current events to help you decide. like what should we (the US) do about the war on terror? the economy? gay rights? stop using poor and developing nations to grow food for rich countries?......
it looks like there are a lot of good ideas listed above as well!
good luck!
