How can I convince my friends to Twitter?

Asked by essieness (7703points) February 22nd, 2009

Not that I don’t like following NPR, NORML, and Fluther (of course), but live people that I know would be good.

I can’t get them to jump on the wagon! Help!

Kidnap their parents, or give them some horrible disease that only you know the cure to. (little do they know that twitter has no cure…. MUHA HA ha ha)

@TheHaight the tinafey one, while hilarious, is fake.

@tennesseejac always win.

@essieness give stuff away. that’s why i follow Threadless and Uncrate tweets. and it’s paid off. in lieu of that, yeah, definitely blast the nips.

@eponymoushipster Lurve for “blasting the nips”

@tennesseejac thank you.

you can also highlight the fact that TONS of bands (indie and otherwise) tweet, and you can do lots of fun practical things with twitter. i track packages using TrackThis, it’s great. And there’s tons of other fun stuff. (tinychat, tinypic).

actually, we should do a tinychat for flutherers. that’d be an interesting chat…

I’ve been on for about a year and a half. When I talked about it, they thought I was crazy. Now, more and more of my friends are finding it on their own. In the mean time, you’ll make plenty of new twitter friends.

i love twitter, because the only thing i ever did/do on facebook is say funny stuff in my status line and favorite bands and tv shows.

that’s basically twitter. and it’s easier to use on a cell phone than facebook.

:( bummer. I thought she was real. oh well, still amusing!

@TheHaight yeah, it is funny. i think in Entertainment Weekly or Time, they asked her and she said no, it isn’t her.

But you can follow Brent Spiner, Wil Weaton and LeVar Burton (Star Trek: The Next Generation); if Patrick Stewart gets a twitter account, i might die.

or Worf – his tweets’d be badass, about killing people and prune juice.
