I am getting a Gateway PC with vista preloaded, any ideas where the best forums for advice, bug fixes and tweeks are?

It has a 2.6GGHz processor and 2gigRam, brand new for cheap, probably because of vista. Don’t want to waste time trying to find the most comprehensive, easy to understand advice. Using half-baked fixes is frustrating, to say the least. So, any ideas? Anyone in the hive have experience? What do I need and what should I avoid?(been using XP, don’t know diddly about vista. What about dual boots, I’ve heard that using Linux is a good fix?)

2.6ghz and 2gb RAM sounds fine for vista. If everything was properly installed, you shouldn’t have any problems.
Lifehacker.com is a great resource for bug fixes, tweaks and hacks. Most of it will just improve your experience, nothing is really necessary.
@Eambos whys that? i dont think ive ever met anyone who hates apple!
Don’t get a Gateway! They are shit. Mark my words.
I’m not sure where to look, but in all seriousness…even if you don’t get a mac i’d stay the hell away from Gateway. We had one in my house before me and my sister got our laptops. The thing was a piece of garbage. Even if you really prefer PC to Mac, seriously reconsider your brand.
Buy a mac get lurve, yet the only actual answer gets none. More fuel to my fire.
dont worry, ive got lurve for the pc lover.
no need to fuel the fire.
Thanks fluthers, stuck w/the gateway tho, so gotta make the best of it…are they all crud? If so, what is the best way to run ‘em? Last thing I need is more crashes, been using pawnshop compaqs and thought this was my way out of trouble. those are cheaper in the pawnshop than Gateways so I figured they were better? awww…..brand new, still gonna have problems?
well, this certainly is disheartening news.
