Tomorrow is National Pancake Day!

Asked by SuperMouse (30853points) February 23rd, 2009

I consider it my duty as a dedicated Fluther user and pancake fanatic to let you all know tomorrow is National Pancake Day! IHOP’s across the nation are celebrating with a free short stack of pancakes for all visitors and hoping for a donation to the Children’s Miracle Network. Enjoy your pancakes one and all!

Les's avatar

Lousy middle of nowhere town I live in in Wyoming. No lousy IHOPS as far as the eye can see. Grrr…

MrItty's avatar

Wow. Why on earth is Fluther telling me that 3 of this question’s five siblings have to do with having an orgasm? Are IHOP’s pancakes really THAT good?!?

jonsblond's avatar

My pancakes will be served in bed.
Sorry IHOP, I prefer homemade pancakes.

No way! pinch me!
Nice fundraiser. Charities are having a rough go of it right now so this is cool.

@eponymoushipster I sense a glorious mash-up that involves cooking pancakes whilst dressed like a pirate… Shrrrrrove Booty Tuesday…

Grisson's avatar

@MrItty “I’ll have what they’re having!”

blondie411's avatar

shouldn’t pancake day be on a weekend? I can’t do pancake’s during the week, don’t get me wrong I would love to but when I get a buttery stack a sweet pancake’s in me all I want to do is nap. How could I go to work after?

TenaciousDenny's avatar

There is a God*!!!

*maybe

jonsblond's avatar

Pancakes for dinner blondie411!

blondie411's avatar

I can’t do that, cereal for breakfast, now that I love! Not gonna lie I’m not a big breakfast fan. I like lunch!

blondie411's avatar

but i love pancakes!

blondie411's avatar

I make mine from scratch apple pancakes, chocolate chip pancakes. I just have mine for lunch!

TenaciousDenny's avatar

Waffles? Sausage? Bacon? Omelettes? Breakfast potatoes? French Toast? English Muffins? CEREAL!?!?!

IS ANY OF THIS GETTING THROUGH TO YOU!?!?!?!?!?!?! AYYARRGHHGHGH!!!

eponymoushipster's avatar

@blondie411 you may have to leave fluther if you don’t rescind the “no breakfast for dinner” rule. breakfast for dinner is possibly the greatest thing ever, and exactly what you order EVERY TIME you go to a real, authentic diner!

<—making home fries, sausage and scrambled eggs with cheese right now as we speak.

blondie411's avatar

lets see when you go to the diner at 4–5 am after drinking partying all night we usually get an array of late night food to breakfast food. it depends on what you drank. Mostly it is pancakes. I don’t eat pork (Jewish) I could eat pancakes all the time. Fries all the time. But diner food is always breakfast duh!

Les's avatar

Here I am, trying to lose weight, and now all you people made me want a buttery stack of pancakes for dinner tonight. Grr.. No, Les! No! You worked too hard! (I think I can, I think I can…) However, cottage cheese pancakes are delicious, and a health(ier) alternative.

blondie411's avatar

So to clarify I eat pancakes, waffles, omelets, home fries and all of the breakfast goodness at diner’s for breakfast and dinner. So please let me stay. I only meant I like lunch better.

Jeez!

TenaciousDenny's avatar

@blondie411 It’s quite alright. Sandwiches are a-ok in my book, too.

TenaciousDenny's avatar

@SuperMouse I like the inclusion of ‘orgasm’ in the Topics.

eponymoushipster's avatar

@blondie411 so you won’t eat jewish pork? ;)

yeah, diners at 5am for the after-party (a la Swingers) is the life.

dragonflyfaith's avatar

I shall celebrate by eating waffles.

Hey, I just bought a box of 60 blasted waffles! I’m not buying pancakes too.

eponymoushipster's avatar

i failed to mention this earlier, which is my bad, but has anyone tried beer pancakes? (mixing two food groups is great)

get one of those pancake mix in a jug things at the supermarket (bisquick, there’re generic ones too), instead of the recommended water amount, add that amount of beer (any will do) – they come out SUPER FLUFFY and very malty.

i make them when we go camping, because we basically start drinking when we get up. But you could make them at home too.

Strauss's avatar

@eponymoushipster, that goes good with sourdough pancakes as well, especially if you do the sourdough culture yourself. When it comes time to add the last milk or water (depending on the recipe) add beer instead—MMMMMM

Strauss's avatar

@supermouse, Does national pancake day have anything to do with Fat Tuesday?

jonsblond's avatar

@eponymoushipster That sounds sooooo good! Gotta try it soon.

loser's avatar

PANCAKES!!!

eponymoushipster's avatar

@Yetanotheruser ooo sourdough pancakes. that sounds awesome!

Mr_M's avatar

Technically, tomorrow is Shrove Tuesday (a.k.a. “Fat Tuesday”), the day before Ash Wednesday. Traditionally, you have pancakes.

eponymoushipster's avatar

i was just gonna eat some oatmeal off a brazilian chick’s butt. isn’t that what Mardi Gras is all about? ohwell

Les's avatar

@Mr_M: It is also known to us Polish people as Paczki Day. Mmm…delicious deep fried fruit filled sugary doughy goodness…..

Mr_M's avatar

@Les , never heard of them so I had to Google. Where can one buy them? They sound delicious!

Les's avatar

@Mr_M: Most bakeries will have them around this time. I used to work in an Austrian bakery in Chicago, with a highly Polish clientele, so we had them all the time. Call around to some bakeries and ask if they sell them. It is pronounced “pawn-shkee”, just so you know. An acceptable alternative (though not entirely the same thing) is Bismarks or even jelly filled-doughnuts.

blondie411's avatar

time to load up on the syrup!

Grisson's avatar

@blondie411 I didn’t know syrup could be uploaded.

shadling21's avatar

I know what I’m doing tomorrow.

blondie411's avatar

ohh syrup of this magnitude can!

jlm11f's avatar

@Supermouse – Oh thanks for telling us. I’ll have to celebrate by either making some pancakes or going to iHop!! GQ.

augustlan's avatar

Mmmm. Pancakes.

In our neck of the woods, tomorrow is also the day you can get kinklings, which is the best ‘donut’ ever!

Skippy's avatar

I hope to get in around lunch. Love those things, and we just got IHOP’s in the past 3 years.

In Cincinnati the Montgomery Inn, famous for BBQ Ribs has a special this week, all you can eat for 19.89, the year the Boathouse restaurant opened. Last night a kid ate 162 ribs…...
Normally a slab is about $25.00
I don’t have time to stand in line, but I do have 2 teenaged sons, so maybe I should make the time to go!

eponymoushipster's avatar

i live across the street from an IHOP. classy neighborhood, i know.

but the ribs sound waaayyy better.

Skippy's avatar

They are some of the best ribs you’ll ever devoure!

Bob Hope (yea an old guy) and presidents love them

dragonflyfaith's avatar

I lied. I had carrot cake and coffee for breakfast.

augustlan's avatar

I think I’m taking my kids to iHop for dinner tonight :)

jonsblond's avatar

@augustlan That sounds so yummy! I wish that I could but my daughter is sick. Maybe I can make pancakes myself instead.

I’m so hungry now! :)

augustlan's avatar

@jonsblond My middle girl is sick, too. I don’t think we’ll be able to go after all :(

Strauss's avatar

@eponymoushipster just make pancakes out of the oatmeal first

oh yeah, then load on the syrup!

jlm11f's avatar

Me and a group of friends are going to iHop tonight!!! I have never been to a iHop or Denny’s or any such place, so I am pretty excited :)

jonsblond's avatar

@PnL Pancake heaven! Have fun. :)
