Can anyone help me with a PSP problem?
I have a 2000 slim model PSP with the TA-088v3 motherboard. I want to install custom firmware and homebrew apps but the motherboard is unhackable. Can I use a TA-081 motherboard in my PSP? Will it fit and work with the rest of the components in my current PSP. I guess what I am asking is can I just change out the motherboard?

You should be able to, as the Motherboard is the psp. it’s where all the limits are, so my guess is that if it fits, it will work. but then again, some of the components might require a newer motherboard.
The newer updates that sony came out with for the psp allow it so that you arn’t able to hack your psp anymore, but there’s something people made that allow you to accsess the root menu and downgrade it.
I don’t know right off the top of my head what they are called but I do know that there is also a type of battery and memory card, which you can buy on ebay, all you do is put them in your psp and while its turning on, you hold the right or left shoulder buttons and it allows you to access the root menu. The seller should tell you how to do it, or look it up on on youtube.
Yes, but an old motherboard will do the job. replacing your motherboard is basicly replacing the whole PSP except for the casing, battery, display and the buttons.
@wilhel1812 It’s just more simplistic, is all I’m saying. And cheaper. Then again, there are many advantages to a new motherboard.
I heard the TA-088v3 motherboard can not be downgraded. If I could do this I would surely try as a new motherboard is almost half of what a psp cost.
I do believe it is possible to downgrade with a TA-088c3 motherboard now, but using a TA-082 motherboard is probably the best. It’s the motherboard that’s been hacked from the very beginning and you will have nearly no limitations.
I love my TA-082 <3
