Truly, no. It’s too formal for me. My mom knows how I feel. I shortened my name – it irks my mother, to this day; however, she rolls with it. My biological father picked my, not my mother. She said she always liked my name, but I know what her choice would have been – it would have fit me a little better.
That’s ok, though. I’m almost 38, no reason to change it now.
I’m okay with my name. Though apparently it got INCREDIBLY popular the next few years after I was born, so there is always about a million other girls with my name around.
Yes. It was my great-grandfather’s name and it’s my father’s name. I should be the third but I’m CWC II.
I’m relatively happy with mine. not many people have my name, and most people seem to think that it’s a cool one.
No and I have told my mom on many occasions that I don’t. It’s a strange name and not too many people have it. Although a lot of people have said they like it, and one most memorable non-date didn’t. My mom actually asked me if she could name my dog! What? NO! You blew it on my name, you don’t get to name my dog!
It kind of fits me. I guess.
I like it better than Courtney or Sydney!
my would have been names ^^ :O
I like it…only when people spell it right :D
I do like my name. It is not as common as many other male names but it has become increasingly popular through the years. My name meanings are okay too, in my opinion – “Narrows”, “channel”, “strait”, “Fair and Handsome”.
who wouldn’t love a name like Max Power?
I have lots of options, I can be William, Will, Bill, Billy, or even shorten it to just Wm.
@chyna yep. except i pound wwwaayyy more kitty than that hack Bond.
i have an old name, so my whole life ive had a nickname. now that im older ive been going by my full name, and its weird hearing my friends say it, but its growing on me.
I love love love my name. Did I mention that I love it? It is unique (not many people share my name – but it is known because of a certain children’s movie from a few years ago). People remark on it all the time about how much they like it, especially mixed with my middle name.
It does, however, come with a few unfortunate nicknames which I endured as a child, but which aren’t used now that I’m an adult.
Yes. It’s just a great, classic name. It’s rare enough that it stands out. It suited me as a girl, it won’t seem bizarre, out of date or too young for me when I am old, and yet it’s not an old lady name, like Bertha.
@eponymoushipster
personally I’m more of a Max Hazzard.
But seriously, I love my name. Spellcheck hates my name, but that’s only ‘cause I’m so unique.
What’s gonna happen when the old people are all named Cooper and Brienne? it’s gonna be really really weird.
@Foolaholic spell check can suck it.
@KrystaElyse I totally feel you on the spelling thing. No one ever spells my name right… even a few of my friends and my fiance’s entire family still spell it wrong (after 4 years!). I always feel weird about correcting people though.
I kind of wish my name was Rufus.
Yes, I like my name. It’s Allison by the way.
@Allie
I would have never guessed. ;)
Anyway, spellcheck always wants to auto-correct mine to skylark. What is it?
I do like my name. I have a formal name that my mom shortened pretty much from the day I was born so I won’t even turn if I hear my full name. No one ever spells it right, but I like that it is spelled differently.
@A Beaverhausen, Junie B Jones? Hermione? Eloise?
This is kind of a funny, spooky topic. I was named after my mother’s best friend. I have a kind of a girly name but I have always been tall and sturdy, more of a peasant girl type. I remember in elementary school thinking I should be named Ethel. For my confirmation I wanted take the name Ethel but the priest said there was no Saint Ethel.
When I was in my 30’s I started working on genealogy and found some relatives that I had never known. They were nieces and nephews of my grandmother whose name was Laura who had died before I was born, When I referred to her as Laura, the letter came back that her first name was Laura but she always went by Ethel.
Now for spooky thing 2. About 10 years ago I went on a geographic tour of where family members lived and to try and find graves. I want to the small town in Ark where she died and I found in a local paper that she had been taken to the town in Texas where I was born for burial. She died on Nov 6, 1946 and buried on Nov 12. I was born on July 12, 1947, exactly 9 mos later. Whooo
Damn… I was going to say my name was Rufus and I liked it. Good job fucking up my joke Allie.
Is TitsMcGhee’s real name Chesty La Rue or Busty St. Claire, per chance?
I do. I used to like it more, before it was so popular. I was the only tinyfaery I knew of for a long time. I too have a name that people constantly misspell, but I’ve given up and I no longer care. But, when someone gets it right I always let them know they did.
@dlm812 – Same here! I really don’t like correcting people, unless it’s for something important, so I usually just let it slide.
Yes, I love my name. Wouldn’t change it to anything else. It is unique and some people have trouble saying it. I could care less. I will not shorten it.
if i was from asia, my real name would be Dong Long Strong. fyi.
If I was from Asia, mine would be Long Duck Dong.
Whassss happenin’ hot shtufffff?
I love my name! Though it is a boys name its cute and a play on words. Terrific.
@eponymoushipster Niiiiceeee
@mrswho Rick Rollins? Ben Dover? Jackie Offington?
@eponymoushipster. You forgot a couple. Connie Lingus, Jack Mehoff, Mike Hunt, and Phil McCraken.
I hate my name because its an old persons name
And I dont like saying it when I introduce myself because people often mistake it for something else.
Luckily, I acquired an awesome nickname a couple of years ago that has stuck
I knew a guy named Chris Hunt once. We’d use his first initial on all possible documents we could.
C Hunt CHunt. Cunt. there, i’ve made it blazingly obvious.
Love it. Because it’s not average.
Thomas it my name! I love it. Thomas James.
One of my favorite artists on Deviantart recently created a character named Bertram. I just love old names. Maybe it’s because I’m a writer, and in my opinion they have hugely different connotations from society’s standards today…
@Elumas It kinda sounds like a rock star name.
And here he is (drum roll).... Thomas James of Monkeys on a Ledge!
@chyna Haha and I’m in a band too!
My Father wanted to name me Jessica, my mother wanted to name me Jennifer. My father won, my name Is Jessica. But Til this day, when I just met someone and they go to talk to me, they call me Jennifer.
@eponymoushipster I think you are mistaken. Since many Asian languages don’t have an ‘R’ sound, your name would be pronounced
Dong Long Schlong
People always misspell my name. i love my name and my full name sounds very good, it just rolls off the toung. My name is Natalie and not many people have it it very unique and I just love it but I have bad nick names such as nat brat, brat brat, nat, nat-nat, natter bug, and weird stuff like that but other than that I love my name. Do you?!?
For a long time, I couldn’t stand my name (Lisa). It’s just so boring. Not only that, it was the most popular name the year I was born, so there were always too many other people around with it. I messed with the spelling, tried to acquire a nickname, but nothing ever stuck. I’m over it now. Even if I wasn’t, at 41 it would be too much of a pain in the ass to change it!
I have a thing about Tiffany. 40 years ago it seemed that every third baby girl was named Tiffany which seems like a very precious kind of name that goes with a frilly dress, curly hair and patent leather shoes. But I would always flash forward to a 50 yo, 180 lb Tiffany, wearing stretch leggings and an oversize T-shirt, with brassy home dyed hair and a frizzy home perm. Tiffany doesn’t age as well as Linda or Christine.
I like my name I have only met one other kid who has it, and when I Google it I get rich people. Its Nicholas Tehrani. Spell check hates my last name. And my initials are NET. I like the nick name of Nick and my mother always calls me Nicky along with people around my Neighborhood and close family friends. So I am content.
I love my name!!!
I hated what it used to be!
Although I like my name, I did hate my maiden name and never use it any more.
I don’t hate it but I don’t like it.
People always say things like “Wow, your name is so unique,” or “it’s so pretty.” And my response is always “It’s weird.”
I guess I’m indifferent about it.
I like my name, just not for me.
I don’t really think it quite fits me.
My sister picked it out.
That might have something to do with it.
I’d like to think that parents would have better naming intuition.
I think my name suits me. It’s pretty feminine though, but uncommon enough (well, until that major natural disaster occured..hint hint.) Now my name has a bad rap, but doesn’t bother me.
I sometimes think it’s too “girly” for me, but I can’t imagine being named anything else.
