What are some things I can do on my birthday?

Asked by Mtl_zack (6781points) February 23rd, 2009

My birthday is March 2nd, but I’m celebrating the saturday before with a good friend of mine. I’m turning 19. The drinking/gambling age in Quebec is 18, so there’s no problem there. I’m not really that into clubbing, more into chillin’. I was thinking about just watching the hockey game and split a few pitchers, but the team’s been going downhill for a while. I’d like to do something that lasts the whole night. Any ideas?

Go out on the town watch a movie shop go out to eat get a few drinks you know just party and live it up and have a good time, you only turn 19 once!!!

Hang out with some friends. Have some drinks, play some poker, FOR MONEY with some friends. Make memories.
I turned 19 in July. I didn’t do ANYTHING. It was lame.

Get older? You know another day older and deeper in debt! I turned mumble, mumble a couple of weeks ago and didn’t do a damn thing. Then Feb 14th was my wedding anniversary and V-day and I was in the emergency room! Anything you do will be better than what I did!!

Live it up!

If the hockey game is what you want to do, sharing some pitchers, do it! Sounds fun to me, anyway. I also like chelseababyy, I’d add some poker – I have fun playing a few hands with my friends.

Father? You have the same birthday as my Dad.

I will tell you what I tell him every year, “You can have my Happy Days commemorative plate collection when you pry it from my cold dead hands!”

Oh, what about a moviethon? grab a game system? Both?

The thing is with gambling (a) you need more than 2 people. I’ll try to find more. (b) I went to the casino with him this past saturday and I don’t wanna come off as a gambleholic, which I am because I’ve been to the casino a lot this year.

I’ll give you 5 to 1 odds you go gambling.

@Mtl_zack – stick with the hockey game, then! ;) Beer and hockey – what isn’t fun about that?

Mtl_zack's avatar

OK, so beer and hockey it is—until 10 PM. What then? As @Bri_L predicted, it will probably be gambling, but if not, then what can I do at 10 or 10:30?

Go to a midnight showing of “Rocky Horror Picture Show”. Play some pool. Make homemade pizzas.

double down!

Oh—forgot to mention: it’s mostly my parent’s treat. Mostly being part of gambling money, beer money, dinner money, ticket/cover money, and other things that I’ll say was those things but I’ll keep to myself for their own protection.

This might or might not cover my friend too. Probably not.

Laser tag! Can you get a bunch of friends and go to a glow-in-the-dark laser tag place? I did that for a B-day a few years ago and it was AWESOME!

Is there any comedy that you could see? Going to see a comedian perform is so much fun. Ask if you can sit in the front row. We’ve done this and the comedian will sometimes pick on you. Makes for a memorable evening.

Mtl_zack's avatar

@aprilsimnel The only place near downtown closes at 9:30 or 10.
@jonsblond Comedy is a great idea, and the show starts at 10:30, so that’s great. I’ll be at the Comedy Nest!

Aw. :(

Darn, no laser tag.

Mtl_zack's avatar

@girlofscience That’s an given, mainly because I live in Montreal where there are at least 4 strip clubs on every block downtown.

girlofscience's avatar

Strip clubs can be a lot of fun, if you don’t act like a creepy guy. If you’re just some stupid “customer” who acts like he has never seen a naked girl in real life before, well then, a strip club experience is just going to be a strip club experience.

But if you have fun with the strippers, and are not intimidated by them or nervous, it’s a lot more fun. If you play it right, you’ll get to hang out with them afterwards, and whatever they take you to do, I can guarantee it will be a ridiculous night.

Oh, btw, this is much easier to achieve if you bring a girl!

jonsblond's avatar

@Mtl_zack Comedy clubs always make for a great evening. Hope you have fun!

Never give up on your team. Even if they are having a bad season, you could miss one hell of a game.

Mtl_zack's avatar

@girlofscience Saturday nights are busy, and so are the strippers. They want the most money possible, so why would they do anything with a pair of 19 year olds? Better money from a 53 year old.

@jonsblond I never gave up. It’s just less entertaining. I’m afraid I’ll get bummed out on my birthday. However, the beer should fix that. There’s also a scandal going on involving drugs/arms trade and 3 players, but it’s minimal.

@Mtl_zack That is true. My favorite football team sometimes plays during the playoffs on my birthday in early January. One year I was at a sports bar on my birthday to watch them play and they ended up losing. That was not a fun birthday!

Well, I do not like my birthday for various reasons, but I am more of a “Date of conception” Celebration, or “Baptism” Celebration. It’s the day God gave you original sin. :s
But, the best parties are the ones with just two or three friends. :)
I have only celebrated one birthday party when I was 4 turning 5 (or something like that) and it was SpongeBob themed. I liked it, but the thing was that I just thought it was too much. But that should not change your prospective. Happy Birthday!!!
