If so – why? If not – Why?

yes…and to quote a great explorer “because I can”. Seriously, that’s the only reason really.
Sometimes, not often. I just don’t have that much interest, I guess.
Then again, it depends on my mood.
Yes. It’s like mini-blogging.
i love it. it’s fun, and there’s a lot of things you can use it for!
Yuppers! I just got started on twitter and now can’t stop. I don’t have it updated to my phone though. I like being able to tell everyone something simply.
I twitter A LOT! I do it because it’s fun! Plus, I’ve met some amazing people on twitter which makes it even better. I use it to find out better products, sometimes I’ll update it with notes to myself and I’ve even used it to help people with technical questions, etc.
<3 twitter :)
I can’t figure out what the fuss is(not that I think it’s dumb). I downloaded Twitterific on my phone but I don’t find it interesting. It seems to just be bits of conversation between people and there’s no beginning or end. I have no idea what the topics are. Any suggestions where to start?
@purephase do you facebook? I liken twittering to just a constant stream of facebook status updates. If you don’t try and read them as a common thread and just as stand alone posts it works well :).
@adreamofautumn that’s exactly how i look it; and i think status updates are the only interesting thing on facebook. :)
@purephase – try and find a twitter you find interesting – a band, CNN updates, etc.
@adreamofautumn
I’ve been reluctant to make an account with Facebook because of my habits with Myspace. I dust the cobwebs off once a month or so. I have been curious however.
@eponymoushipster
Where are the respective Twitters found?
Thanks by the way.
@purephase I really hated Myspace. A way bigger fan of facebook!
@purephase
well i don’t what bands you like, but you can use the “Find People” feature, or go to a band’s website and/or myspace, and see if they twitter. recently, a rather large list of bands that twitter was released (check pitchfork and stereogum for those).
as for CNN, this is their breaking news twitter: http://www.twitter.com/cnnbrk
you can also go to twitterholic.com, where they’re listed by order of popularity, and find feeds you like or think sound interesting.
Thanks for the direction. I’ll check it out tomorrow. :)
Absolutely. I love it. Not that many people ever talk to me on there, but it’s all good.
I like getting The Onion, CNN, Stuff from Starbucks, Carls Jr, and there are some pretty cool bloggers on there as well.
The only Twittering I do is when I’m playing pocket pool. I guess that doesn’t count in this instance though. :o(

I Twitter and I enjoy it but I’m still trying to get my friends on board. My screenname is the same as what I have on here if you’re interested…
Oh, I should have mentioned, twitter.com/bobtherobot
i should change my twitter to my screen name….
Ok, so quick question. When I do a search, it shows a list of “tweets” concerning the topic. Now, are these just compiled from all the random tweets or are there separate discussions happening? Because I notice I can’t add to the discussion when reading a search list. Does that make sense? (hopefully people are still following this)
it’s not like fluther @purephase when you search for a topic. Your finding single tweets. It’s someone saying something about that subject.
Hey look at that my lurve is 1995. Good year!
@willbrawn Mine WAS 1990 for a while. Also a good year.
So basically there’s just one giant pool of tweets?
Yep. Pretty much. However, you can get into some great conversation.
Gosh…
So if you look at the public list of tweets and want to respond to someone that is not someone you’re following, it’s best to send them a private tweet as apposed to just throwing a response out into the abyss? (sorry, be patient with me)
Yes. But if you wanna talk to ‘em. Follow them, and usually they’ll follow you back. Then direct tweet them, like you did with me. Most people I talk to always check their direct stuff and it helps sift out what’s actually for them in all of the billions of tweets going out all at once. But if you want, you can private tweet em. Whatever is easier for you.
Beautiful. Thank you all for your help.
