I use Biosilk. It helps keep the frizzies under control and it’s a very light formulation. Split ends make frizzies worse, and straightening your hair a lot contributes to split ends. Get your hair trimmed every 6–8 weeks. When you’ve finished conditioning and putting on product, scrunch with your fingers to style and then leave your hair alone.Touching it a lot frizzes it out as well.

This is a good site for us curly types.

Try Bed Head shampoo and conditioner made for frizzy hair. It’s called Control Freak. It works great.

AprilSimnel is right on. Also try Ouidad for another great site for curly hair resources. You said your hair was puffy – does that mean that you have a lot of small curl, or do you just have thick hair that gets frizzy?

Get your damaged hair cut off. It can not be repaired. Short healthy hair is much more attractive than longer damaged hair. Invest in a good shampoo, it does make a difference. You can get shampoo based on your hair texture. Use some sort of gloss drops for smoothing fly aways. Use a reconstructing treatment once a week. Don’t wear your hair pulled back tightly, or with rubber bands. constricting your hair causes damage.
Basically the most important thing to do is find out why your hair is frizzy, and don’t be cheap when you buy products. Grocery store shampoo is like mcdonalds, your not going to die if you use it, but it’s not good for you.

I have opposite advice from the people above. You should use less hair products and shampoo. Your scalp produces natural oils that coat and protect your hair from damage. Most shampoos strip those oils away leaving your hair “feeling” clean but open to damage… so then people put on gels/creams/sprays to replace the oils they just washed out.

It makes no sense, unless you are a cosmetic company cashing in.

My advice – shampoo only went needed (ei, when it’s actually dirty with dirt or sweat). All other times just use water. It will take time for things to normalise if you let it.

BioSilk for sure! Also, if you straighten your hair with a flat iron, I recommend a professional grade one. CHI or FHI… usually one that costs about $100 or more. It’s the ceramic technology that makes them better than the cheap look a likes in the store.

KMS curlng balm. Its light weight and really good for when you just want to shower and go.

If you like to diffuse, I LOVE my K-PAK curl revitalizer spray. Just spray all over your hair, lightly scruch and diffuse gently. The curls are so beautiful.

Biosilk is great for frizz, but only use it on dry hair. So after your hair is dry, you can really put on as much as you want, lightly over curls. Do not brush!

To avoid frizzy curls, avoid touching the hair too much while drying.

BioSilk is probably the best. My hair is INSANELY curly. Seriously.
I use that, the Chi Hair Serum, and a bunch of other Chi products. Anything by Chi is just great.

I use Aveda Smooth Infusion and LOVE IT. I just use a tiny amount – about the size of my pinky fingernail – and it lasts all day.

Does the above answers work for static too? That’s my problem during the winter.

@elijahsuicide I agree with you. I also work in a salon. Investing in good hair care is a must… get the dead ends trimmed regularly if you plan on keeping it long. If it is too far damaged, it needs to go. Condition helps to add moisture back in from the damage of heat styling. I recommend Aveda products as well, as I work for an Aveda salon.. they are an investment, but they are highly concentrated so you actually use less therefore they last you longer. Aveda Smooth Infusion is perfect for smoothing your hair, it helps fight humidity and protect against heat styling by using natural ingredient such as maze (corn) and aloe. I also recommend, while getting your hair back to healthy you use a deep conditioner once a week, such as Aveda Dry Remedy, which adds moisture without weighing it down. Lastly, styling products, do help make the whole process come together! I recommend using Aveda Hang Straight and Brilliant Damage Control before blow drying and flat ironing. These products are an investment, but will keep your hair in TIP TOP shape. Also, Aveda products are naturally derived so you know you are not putting harsh chemicals and layering build up on your hair like cheap grocery store products, that COAT the hair shaft to create the illusion of “smoothness.”
All these products can be found on Aveda’s website www.aveda.com. I would love to answer any questions if you have any.
