Is this is a scam? If not, how would it work?

Sounds like probably a scam. The only way I could imagine this working is that you paypal him the money and he e-mails you information about the tickets. The problem is that you don’t have any guarantee that he’ll follow through and that the tickets are legitimate. I’d do as much research as possible to find out whether printable tickets actually exist or not (maybe call the venue or whoever was the original seller of the tickets) and still, beware, or maybe insist on conducting the transaction in person (in a safe, public place, as always with Craigslist).

Good luck! Let us know what happens.

If he has tickets through ticketmaster it is legit.

Ask him for his PayPal ID, and see his “REP” next to his username. If he is “verified”, and has previous sales you should be good to go.

He’s just trying to be the middle man. Is his price higher than the face value?

The good thing about paypal is that you can file a complaint and get your money back within 30 days of something illegitimate…at least with ebay you can, so I’m assuming that is for all transactions, you might want to look into that just to be safe.

His price is higher than face value, yes.

you can get a refund through PayPal if it’s a scam… I’m pretty sure of that. If you did something like a money order or western union then it’s probably a scam. But PayPal I’m almost sure of is legit, and you can get it all refunded to you if he doesn’t give you the tickets you pay for.
