Do you ask questions you know the answer to?

Asked by willbrawn (6619points) March 1st, 2009 from iPhone

Do you ask them just to see if your opinion matches other statements? Or to glorify yourself because you knew your answer was the right answer?

No. Do you? :^>

The only time I’d ask a question I knew the answer to would be when I’m tutoring someone. I don’t do that here. Cheers!

I don’t have the stomach or the need for self-aggrandizement or glory so I refrain from asking questions that I already know the answers to. I find it much more satisfying to get informed answers and opinions from people on Fluther. If the opportunity presents itself to join the discussion and I can offer input of my own that might be meaningful and/or helpful, I’m comfortable with doing that though.

No, but I do ask opinion questions. It helps refine my own, from time to time… sometimes completely changing it, too!

I have occasionally given brain teasers. I think of it as sharing something that I enjoy.

No but then again I barely ask questions here to begin with.

Most of the questions I ask are opinion questions. I usually know my opinion on the matter and am interested in learning the opinions of others.

No. See augustlan’s response above. I may ask others’ input on something i have some ideas about, but it is for the purpose of gathering information not having a bully pulpit.

Yea, I have, but those questions never end up like you think they will. So after they’re done going on their tangent ride I usually didn’t know the answer to the new question.

Sure, it’s a good way to confirm it amongst other replies & to test your knowledge against another’s which may in turn lead you to not really having known the answer to a question that you had originally thought that you had known the answer to. It’s not common that I would do such a thing however.
