What is your favorite album artwork?

For me it’s the memory of it and not the actual art but it’s Duran Duran “Rio”.

Lemon Jelly.ky. It features a rendering of a city during the day and at night. It’s very, very cool.

I used to love the real vinyl album cover for Allman Brothers “Eat a Peach.”

Edit: the new Animal Collective album cover. I haven’t heard the album, but the cover is mind-blowing.

The album art for Castaways and Cutouts by The Decemberists is cool.
Fragile by Yes has a cool album cover too.
And Pink Moon by Nick Drake.

i don’t know why but wheels of fire by cream always comes to mind when i hear this question. i don’t like the actual album, but i’ve always been really attracted to the cover. there are probably a bunch that i like more, but that one just comes to mind immediately.

@Jamspoon Agreed, all Decemberists albums have pretty cool art. The Lemon Jelly album has the city during the day on top, and then a rendering of it at night below. I suppose it’s in the liner notes, instead of the cover too.

I know it’s not very original, but I love many of The Beatles covers. Sgt. Pepper’s of course, Hollyhocks, Yesterday and Today, even Meet The Beatles are magnificent.

Disraeli Gears! I love the colors and the psychedelic-ness.
25 O’ Clock! Ditto.
Exciter! It’s in your face and not at the same time. Very clever.
Rubber Soul! I admit I only love this one because John’s such a sexy beast on it.
Island Life! I think Grace Jones is a butta-face. However, I’d kill to have that body and that sort of mastery over my body. Look at that. I can’t do that. Can you hold a pose like that? Damn!

If I put a lot of thought into it, there’d be too many to list. But my immediate reaction to this question was the album art for Deja Entendu… album by Brand New.

Jim O’Rourke’s albums Insignificance and Eureka come to mind.
