Uh, both?

mangeons's avatar

What’s wrong with doing both? :)

SeventhSense's avatar

Didn’t say there was..

I like to Tap!

Come on- I guess what i am sayinmg is that i think that a site like this has great potential but as to just bullsh%&&*&g well…It’s cool but there is potential to create real quantum leaps in human behavior and interacting. I know, pretty deep but I can’t help it.

Welcome to the collective. Stick around for a while, and you’ll see plenty of both. There are many deep, philosophical discussions here as well as the occasional bullshit. Take a look at some questions that have already been asked, and read the answers, too. Hope you enjoy your stay. I’m a moderator here, and would be happy to help you get a feel for the site. little bit of column A, little bit of column B

Can`t really have one without the other.

That wouldn`t be any fun.

I partake in both. What can I say, I live life on the wild side.

MacBean's avatar

I’d tap it.

bythebay's avatar

@MacBean : You already do! :)

SeventhSense's avatar

You guys are funny. All this tapping is making me horny. And I am stuck in the house under a foot of snow and it’s still coming down here in NY.

Lightlyseared's avatar

What’s with the just socializing? Are you saying socializing isn’t important?

SeventhSense's avatar

I eat when I’m hungry and sleep when I’m tired.

MacBean's avatar

Is that how that’s supposed to work? I’ve been eating when I’m tired and sleeping when I’m hungry. Hm. Maybe I’ll try your way.

eponymoushipster's avatar

@MacBean i think that’s a sign of depression.

Jeruba's avatar

I’ve never had the energy or ambition to live up to my potential. Let’s hear it for the underachievers.

Jeruba's avatar

Thank you. You’ll notice that I punctuated my call with an underachieving period instead of an overwrought, overzealous, and tiresomely overused exclamation point.

No reflection on present company, of course.

bythebay's avatar

My name is bythebay, and I’m an obsessive over-achiever. Can someone please help?

Jeruba's avatar

@bythebay, my boss actually coached me in slacking off. It took me months, but I finally got the hang of it. Did wonders for my stress level. I’m perfectly serious.

eponymoushipster's avatar

@Jeruba another great source is the “Two Bobs” scene in Office Space: sneaking in the back door, doing 15 minutes of actual work, etc.

OK so the difference between tapping the collective and Social Networking is best illustrated by another thread. I am trying to get some practical answers. Anybody know about some affiliate marketing click ads on web sites, please check out my other question about that topic. If you have some practical advice please tap that…....yes I left somebody wide open with that ending…
@Eponymoushipster Office Space is right up there with Citizen Kane in my book

Dom Portwood: Hi, Peter. What’s happening? We need to talk about your TPS reports.
Peter Gibbons: Yeah. The coversheet. I know, I know. Uh, Bill talked to me about it.
Dom Portwood: Yeah. Did you get that memo?
Peter Gibbons: Yeah. I got the memo. And I understand the policy. And the problem is just that I forgot the one time. And I’ve already taken care of it so it’s not even really a problem anymore.
Dom Portwood: Ah! Yeah. It’s just we’re putting new coversheets on all the TPS reports before they go out now. So if you could go ahead and try to remember to do that from now on, that’d be great. All right!

I personally think that socializing and intelligent conversation are essential for making a great community site, it makes Fluther… well, Fluther. : )

asmonet's avatar

There’s a dozen people on Fluther that I currently have arrangements with to tap.
I guess that’s social too.

mangeons's avatar

You know you love to tap me, ‘Mo. :)

eponymoushipster's avatar

@mangeons silly cartoon monkey. jedi monkey says “no”.

mangeons's avatar

“Silly cartoon monkey” shanks jedi monkey

asmonet's avatar

Isn’t that a felony, and wouldn’t that make a Jerry Springer episode win? Considering I’m also promised to auggie. :D

I declare cartoon monkey the winner. No jedi tricks can beat that.

mangeons's avatar

I’m sure the police will overlook this one, ‘Mo. :)

asmonet's avatar

woohoo!
I’m gonna rob me a cradle. :)

eponymoushipster's avatar

@asmonet now jedi monkey is a sad monkey. :(

mangeons's avatar

And what a lovely cradle it will be. :)

asmonet's avatar

Haha, because you’re a sad monkey, her avatar seems wonderfully malicious.

brown chicken brown cow.

mangeons's avatar

How now, brown cow? Why now, brown cow? What now, brown cow? :)

If we found more relevant questions that irrelevant then we are tapping the collective.
