My grandmother believes it is being out in the cold night air too much. Historically if I leave a fan on while I sleep I tend to get a sore throat, and a little runny nose from it. Going in and out of a house or warm place into a cold place repeatedly. And of course picking it up from someone else carrying it around lol. (Also maybe too much yelling or singing)

when why sinus problems start acting up, the drippage from my sinuses can often irritate my throat.

@eponymoushipster that’s right. sinus & cold drainage will cause a sore throat in a hurry.

Yes, snot is certainly a theory but
The answer of course is that it’s a blip in the matrix and what you are experiencing is the tentacles of the flutherite embedded in the top of your spine entering your throat.

A useful list from tiffyandthewall’s google site:

“A sore throat can have many causes including:

Common viruses, and even the viruses that cause mononucleosis (mono) and the flu, can cause a sore throat. Some viruses can also produce blisters in the mouth and throat (“aphthous stomatitis”).

Breathing through the mouth can produce throat dryness and soreness.
Sinus drainage (post nasal drip) may cause a sore throat.

A sore throat can also be caused by bacteria. The two most common bacteria to cause a sore throat are Streptococcus (which causes strep throat) and Arcanobacterium haemolyticum. Arcanobacterium causes sore throats mainly in young adults and is sometimes associated with a fine red rash.

Sore throat appearing after treatment with antibiotics, chemotherapy, or other immune-compromising medications may be due to Candida, commonly known as “thrush.”

A sore throat lasting for more than two weeks can be a sign of a serious illness, such as throat cancer or AIDS.”

going to concerts!

The same thing makes your throat hurt when you scream at a concert and/or get a cough…. abuse of the mucosae (inner lining of the throat) which includes drying and vibration due to excessive sound production as well as the own body’s reaction in trying to heal itself will cause moderate to severe irritation and in some cases swelling…. which makes it hurt.
