Do you tend to answer more fact-based or more opinion-based questions on fluther, and what do you think that says about you?
I’m sure a similar question has been asked at some point, but I haven’t the slightest idea what to search to find it. Sorry.

I tend to answer both, though I know that my answers are skewed towards the fact-based questions. I gravitate to the medical-science questions, and will answer those first, but will also answer more opinion based questions if they are appealing. My ratio is probably 70–30.
I tend to answer more fact-based questions. It probably means I don’t want to argue over opinions too much and I am afraid of getting into heated discussions.
I find it easy to back up my statements when it is about facts, but opinions? Everybody has one, and it is usually hard to argue about them.
little bit of column A, little bit of column B.
I guess it says I’m full of hot air because I am more an “opinion” based person. There are a few fact based questions that I know, but I tend to just follow those in hopes that I may learn something. I’m often afraid to ask “fact based” questions out of fear that someone will explain to me that there is this invention called google….. I got that when I first came here.
I answer far more opinion questions. I’m one of those people who knows a little bit about a lot of things, but not a lot about anything much. My only real expertise is human nature… all learned the hard way.
I enjoy answering both of those types of questions because I like to spread around what little knowledge I have left before senility sets in. I guess what that says about me is that I’m an equal opportunity information dispensing Flutherite and gentleman.
I usually put a lot of work into computer questions. Like testing and doing a bunch of screen shots that show how to solve a problem. I have even written programs to help people.
I normally joke around on stuff that is opinion based. But I get pissed if people make a joke on a real question before it is actually answered. Answer it, or wait until it is answered to make a joke.
I could copy and paste lan’s answer for this one. And I tend not to give an answer unless I can back it up with personal experience.
I answer both. It says about me that I’m addicted to fluther.
I don’t answer simple fact-based questions, generally, unless it’s with a witty remark or a link to Google.
More complex fact-based questions are interesting—the sort of “how?” or “why?” questions that can’t really be answered by a Google search.
And opinion questions – I answer those if I have an opinion and they’re interesting.
In recent times I have been answering more fact based questions over opinion questions. However I enjoy answering opinion questions too. I don’t think this says anything about me though, as my question answering shifts from time to time but I don’t really shift along with it.
I’d say I’m 60–40 opinion-based. And of those, more seem to be of the “advice” opinion, rather than the “fave book? why?” opinions. I’m a regular agony aunt!
I lean toward opinion answers. Facts can be Googled (like “who is the actor playing Kirk in the new Star Trek?”).
There’s not much to discuss with facts; they are what they are. Opinions, though, can initiate some good conversation.
Fact based questions (although there don’t seem to be a lot of those around lately), in the science/biology/ecology/pets genres.
both
I answer all of the fact-based ones I know the answer to
I only answer the opinion polls if I find them interesting and original
When I figure out which kind this is I will know if I can answer.
I answer based on wether I feel I can contribute anything of value.
I’m new, but I see myself clicking more on opinion questions.
I like story questions and human relations questions and I’ll answer facts questions if I know anything about it that no one else has already said. I’ve also been known to offer my opinion occasionally, but you have to really twist my arm to get me to do that. ;-)
I prefer fact-based questions, rather than the “do you blah blah” or “have you blah blah” questions. This one is an exception.
I just hate those polling questions because I don’t feel that that was what fluther was originally created for. I just go to other forums for those types of questions.
