“Wonderwall” cover by Ryan Adams.
Wrap Your Arms Around Me – the Barenaked Ladies
Dream a Little Dream of Me – Mama Cass
This Modern Love – Bloc Party
Gotta Have You – the Weepies
Shiver – Maximo Park
Think of You – Reeve Carney and the Revolving Band
The Warmest Part of the Winter – Voxtrot
and I’m sure I’ll think of more soon…
The “A – You’re Adorable” song. Heh. So cute.
“Ain’t too Proud to Beg” – The Temptations. This is my favorite song of all time.
And I Love Her – The Beatles
I Love You For All Seasons – The Fuzz
Can’t Get Enough of Your Love, Babe – Barry White
Let My Love Open the Door – Pete Townshend
More Today Than Yesterday – Spiral Starecase
Fallin’ In Love – Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds
La, La Means I Love You – The Delfonics
I Melt With You – Modern English
Love Is The Answer – England Dan & John Ford Coley
Make It With You – Bread
Your Love is King – Sade
When I’m With You – Sheriff
My Love – Paul McCartney & Wings
Feel Like Makin’ Love – Roberta Flack
Laughter In The Rain – Neil Sedaka
Sorry, I couldn’t choose just one. There are far too many great songs to let go to waste.
Hm… Maybe My Funny Valentine.
The nearness of you (Norah Jones version)....
Quando Quando Quando (Michael Buble & Nelly Furtado)
Chasing Cars (Snow Patrol)
and of course (can’t forget the spanish) Cuento by Ximena Sariñana (who’s father directed amores perros by the way)
You and I – Michael Buble.
Some romantic Spanish song.
Oh! Got another one!
You Are the Sunshine of My Life – Stevie Wonder
I’ve been serenaded twice and both times the it was by songs I didn’t know but were incredibly sweet. So if it happened again—I’d like a song I didn’t know, but that was an easy to pick up on and enjoy, old classic.
Neither situation was romantic, but both songs bring a smile to my face whenever I hear them because of their associations.
April in Paris
@onesecondregrets: I lurve that version of the song and have recently fallen in love with his music.
fyi everyone i am really enjoying these answers!
i’ve actually serenaded a couple of people in my day… and in my experience… an acoustic guitar with pretty much any song (as long as there’s feeling behind it and you can hold a tune reasonably well) is more than enough… the thought and the emotion count more than the actual words
Come to think of it, there would be some great Mountain Goats songs too…
@onesecondregrets is that a cover of the Oasis song Wonderwall?
My choice would be either More by Matthew West, Baby I’m a Want You Bread, or Stone in Love The Stylistics.
@cprevite really?! I am going to have to find it, that is one of my favorite songs in the entire world! Thanks for the info!
@SuperMouse—I’m a big fan of the original and still prefer the Ryan Adams version. I’m pretty sure even if you don’t end up liking it better, you’ll still like it. :D
Me So Horny
Two Live Crew
I would have to go with
Have a little Faith In me- John Hiatt
Im on Fire- Bruce Springsteen
Stand By Me- Ben E. King
Black- Pearl Jam
thats all I can think of for now I know theres more though.Oh Yeah and I agree Wonderwall would be a great one too.
