Why won't my computer display Chinese symbols?

For some reason, on facebook, google, etc, etc, Chinese symbols won’t show up – they are being shown as squares and such….help! (also – I use chrome as a browser…)

You haven’t got the Chinese language files installed. If youre using windows you can install them from the language part of the control panel.

It’s a gift with windows too, it just doesn’t install them by default.
