Skintight clothes?
Spandex, tights, whatever. The stuff that leaves nothing about your body to the imagination. Do you wear them in public? Top or bottom? What are you thinking when you decide to wear that?
On the other hand, when you see someone wearing clothes like that, what do you think about them?

I don’t wear things like that except in the swimming pool (because as a girl I have very little choice). I wouldn’t be that cruel to the rest of the world. Besides, tight stuff in not comfortable and at my age and shape comfort is a top priority.
When I see someone wearing clothes like that I always wonder if they would still wear that stuff if they could see themselves in that 360-degree mirror they use on What Not to Wear.
VERY few people have the figures to wear skin tight clothes. It looks incredibly bad. Personally, I hate tight tops. It makes me feel like I’m strangling. I don’t like skin tight jeans, but I do wear them tighter than my shirts.
Well, I don’t wear spandex, but I do wear tighter jeans and shirts (illustration). I don’t think denim can really be “skintight,” but friends have mentioned being able to see my junk before. I wear skinny jeans because I think they look good, and are flattering for my body type. I’m a dude, I should add.
But would you rather have it this way?
It depends. I have some chords that are pretty skintight when I first put them on. They loosen up before I actually go out usually. I like them because they are a great color on me and super comfortable. But like I said, they generally loosen before I go out.
Other than that, I sometimes wear skintight tops. Because I like corsets. I’m kind of hourglassy, so corset is a pretty good look on me. When I wear a corset, it’s because I like the way it feels (like a constant hug!) and want to look nice. It also helps my posture immensely.
But if I am wearing a tighter top or bottom, the opposite is definitely not tight. I just don’t do totally constricted well. And I try to keep it kind of classy.
No. However most of my shirts are tight across the chest. There’s nothing I can do about it. If it’s not snug there, it’s hanging off of me other places. They don’t make a lot of shirts for large busted gals.
@dragonflyfaith: Ain’t that the truth. Especially button-ups, which I basically cannot wear for this reason.
@tonedef That first illustration is NOT too tight. That’s just right. The second one? Gag me!!!
Hahaha! I know. But I get weird looks when I wear 511’s out. It doesn’t stop me, though. Most of my jeans look like these.
ALSO, I found a portrait of a bunch of us Flutherers! I didn’t know that we had a meetup!
@EmpressPixie Yes! The buttons are constantly pulling and giving people that little peep show between the buttons.
I like to wear spandex whenever given the opportunity. I love casual fridays at work!
Skin-tight? no way. the ladies would be all over me.
The first pair of jeans shown up there i would not classify as “skintight”. they’re probably “straight leg” or “original” fit. on the other hand, little emo twirps of the male gender who wear girls jeans, or the dreaded “skinny jean” – that’s a big negatory folks.
you don’t want to see my bulge….or do you?
that legging trend lately has got to go. it looks ridiculous on almost everyone.
i do wear tight pants sometimes, “skinny jeans”, but sometimes i feel self-concious in them because i have such a high waist. doesn’t always look good on me.
@casheroo they make “skinny mom jeans”? nice.
@eponymoushipster hahahah. when i hear mom jeans all i think of is that SNL skit. no, i do not wear mom jeans!
@casheroo: You have a high waist, you do not wear high waisted jeans, correct? I believe eponymoushipster was confusing the two.
I wear nothing skintight. I don’t have the figure for it.
“Because you’re not a woman anymore. You’re a mom.”
@eponymoushipster I’ll just bet they don’t!
@tonedef Oooh, wrong answer! We’re both! Just because we become moms, that doesn’t prevent us from being women who still want to look good in our clothes.
No!!! It’s a quote from the SNL sketch! I love moms!!
Oh…..well, my apologies then. I obviously don’t watch SNL. Thanks for setting me straight.
I was thinking, geez, what a narrow-minded comment!
I don’t wear them. Well… I may or may not have some jeans that are a little on the tight-ish side that I may or may not wear once in a while. But that’s it. And only when my other jeans are dirty. When I see someone wearing skin tight stuff I just figure they didn’t look at the size on the tag when they bought it or in the mirror before they left the house.
i apologize to all the moms
lol, aw, i didn’t take any offense. i thought at first you were implying mothers shouldn’t wear skinny jeans (which most should definitely not especially after giving birth…trying them on was definitely an instant downer) but, i’m 22 and a mom. i think i dress more like a 22 year old though. i’m in that in between phase of “should i really be wearing this”
Express pixie & others, if you have breasts, well, button up blouses are not for us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When my figure allowed it, I wore mine tight, but now, notsomuch.
got the “50 thing going on! :)
When I was a teenager in the 80s, I wore jeans that were so skinny that I had to have a friend pull them off for me… Now? No way in hell!
I am here to preach the wonder of tights! I personally wear them under knee-length skirts (yeah for high-school dress codes at my job), but my tights express me. They’re heriingbone, and zebra striped, and argyle patterned, and fishnet, and fuschia houndstooth. They’re the only thing I wear that’s skin-tight, but I do want my clothes to fit.
I mean, I don’t wear spandex, but all of my clothes are very fitted. I wear relatively tight jeans, pencil skirts, and all of my tops are pretty form-fitting. I have a nice body, so why not?
@girlofscience: you want people to look, right? It makes you feel good?
I guess. It’s more just that I’m a girly girl, and I think that form-fitted clothes tend to look better and more stylish than baggy clothes.
Some girls in my grade are wearing leggings for pants.
@dragonflyfaith: that is exactly the look that inspired this question. I saw a girl on campus pretty much wearing that outfit. The only difference: she also carried about 30 pounds more on her frame. That is how I started my day, yesterday!
@daloon that’s a lot of furniture for that apartment, dude.
@eponymoushipster: tell me about it. You are truly happy you weren’t there. Trust me.
I’ll wear nearly skintight shirts, to show off my goodies when necessary, but only if I’m going out at night, never in the day or to a non-partying environment. I’ll wear leggings, which are skintight, but I always wear a dress or skirt or shorts over them.
@TitsMcGhee You’ll have to trust me, but I thought so. I still don’t have a handle on daytime wear, though. Also, I’m not sure what will happen when you grow up (which is relevant, since the Tits I’m trying to figure out is maybe ten or fifteen years older than you are).
@daloon: Well, my daytime is a little more Boho chic, Lower East Side/East Village type attire… I mean, I do go to art school….
the only ‘skintight’ clothes i wear are tights/leggings.
if they’re opaque leggings, sometimes i’ll just wear an oversized, long shirt with them (but i definitely know when it’s crossing the line into trashy). otherwise i wear a dress or shorts with them.
but yeah, i don’t really like tight clothing in general. if i am wearing something form fitting, the other piece of clothing is usually bigger. like, if i’m wearing tighter jeans, i’ll wear a bigger shirt. if my shirt is really fitted, i won’t wear tight pants. balance. haha.

Oh yes definitely, I absolutely love tights wet look leggings and unitards like the one in my avatar and wear them every chance I get. sexy sharp and very stylish.
I hate seeing men in skintight clothes, some women look in it, I’m not one of them.

Gadzooks, there are those who can wear skintight clothes and know that they know they look good and/or sexy in them, and there are those who seem to wear them because they are clueless or they are trying and hoping to look good in them. When I see the latter I would hope they wise up and put something on to hide the bulges less someone not as tactful as I put them in their place in a very embarrassing fashion.
