Does anyone here use a Diva Cup?

I’m thinking of getting one.
But, the whole logistics of it make me wary. Do you pour it out in your sink?? Can you feel it inside of you?
Please tell me of good and bad Diva Cup experiences!

My college roommate and dear friend has one and loves it. It self empties when you pee, according to her. Diva cups are really nice because you can use them forever, but if you want to try it out, you can pick up a package of instead cups at CVS or Walgreens. They are disposable Diva cups basically.
Roommate also says you cannot feel them once they are in.
I do! <raises hand high> I do!
Get one, YOU won’t regret it! My LIFE is SOOOOOOOOooooooo much easier with it!
You do not feel it inside of you if you insert it right. The first two months of use reminded me of the first times I used a tampon. I knew it was there. But, now I can hardly even remember I have my period! I’d like to shout it from the rooftops…“THE DIVA CUP IS THE BEST INVENTION EVER!!”
It’ll save you money, time and waste being put into the enviroment. I bought mine on Amazon for about $20. I haven’t used anything but paper thin panty liners for the past year.
Ask me any details you want. I’ll gladly answer!
@empress- You have to take it out to empty it
casheroo, you simply remove the cup and dump it. I wash mine with baby shampoo in the sink when I’m at home. But in public restrooms I empty it in the tiolet, then wipe it with TP, and re-insert it.
I mean it. The thing is AWESOME!
Do you wear your Diva pin? I hear it comes with a nifty pin. Anytime I bring up the Cup, ladies go off on that damn pin haha.
So it drains when you pee?? How does it not leak when you wear it? How long does it take to fill, and how often does it need to be emptied? I’m probably asking way too many questions haha
oh okay, I read your second response about dumping it. That makes sense.
I do not wear the pin. ;) I also don’t recommend the disposables. They are not of quality MEDICAL grade silicone as the Diva is.
I feel safe using the cup. I also, know, what my period is like each month. If you have any women’s health concerns, you will get to know your monthly better. Which, can be helpful for letting your doctor know any changes.
casheroo, I haven’t had any leakage issues. I have a #2 size, since I’m over 30 and had a baby.
If you leak, it’s MUCH less than you would if you used a tampon. During the heavy days of my period, I dump 3–4 times per day. On e all other days, I dump only twice…What a Godsend!
My BFF uses a Diva cup and she is in love with it. It sounds like Spatzie has this one covered (or cupped, as it were), so I’ll just say…
YAY for sustainable hygiene practices!
#2 size? They come in sizes?? I don’t even know what size I would be..
I should mention, I find the whole thing to be more hygienic and less odiferous than “other” methods of feminine products!
casheroo, if you’re under 30 and have “regular” periods you’d buy a size 1 (small)
If you’re over 30 or have had a baby, or are a “heavy” flow-er, it’s a size 2 for you.
I never heard of this thing. Is it like a diaphragm? Does anyone have a link?

@sptzielover I have had a child, but have very light periods due to endometriosis. I just had a 65 day cycle! It was awful. I think I’d really like to get one, since I don’t/can’t use tampons and pads are really getting on my nerves.
@everyone- see Amazon for reviews…many reviews if you type in diva cup. Honestly, I don’t own stock in the company. It took me a YEAR to decide to buy myself one. I could KICK my self in the ASS for not getting one ASAP.
You know that “have a happy period” ad campaign. That’s a LOAD of crap. This little jobbie will make your life easier, make you smell & feel fresher and help you forget about your period all together. That’s what I’d call a happy period. Every time I use it, I think about what a pain my life was before it.
I wish I were a millionaire. I’d pass them out to girls and women on the street and encourage them to use ‘em!
@casheroo, I’d go with a size 2. You know your body well enough to use tampons regularly. You’ll be able to “U” fold this and get the hang of it in a jiffy.
I use it. I feel good that I am not harming the environment. Took me a bit of time to get used to it but I am old and built funny. I empty it frequently the first two days. You can dump and clean it in the shower. I can’t get my daughter to try it. I wear cloth, washable pads with it – just in case. Cut the long tube like pull thing of it – that feels weird!
This sounds like the most disgusting invention since recycled toilet paper.
I am sooo happy menapause has set in. I don’t worry anymore!
Pour it in your sink???? Thats SICK!
How bout a toilet!
@Mr_M i wikipedia’d it, and i think i’m still reliving the horror.
I’m still working on “it self empties when you pee”! It does?! And that’s a GOOD thing?
I have to say, i respect women and all the health issues they deal with in connection with them. but some of these “devices” make me queasy. seriously.
and all i can think of with this one is that old SNL skit about the old guy with the drool cup…<shudder>
lol. well, sorry for traumatizing some of you. I think the cleaning it in the sink thing is what is holding me back.
I almost bought one today, but my son threw a huge fit so I had to leave the store.
I have never used one. Don’t think I ever will.
The thought of the Diva Cup (or cloth pads, for that matter) might be disturbing to anyone who doesn’t need to use them, but they pale in comparison to the disturbingness of leaking blood from the crotch. If you can get past that happening to you, other things seem a bit more reasonable than they ordinarily would.
I am a convert. It sounds gross at first I will admit (and you pour it in the toilet, not the sink!), but you’ll get used to it. Also, I used OB from the beginning, so maybe that helped a bit. I have to admit throwing down almost $40 for something so small was not easy but think about how much you spend on tampons…yeah. So it pays for itself within a matter of months, seeing as it is reusable.
Okay so the the major pros, which converted me:
-So much less waste, on the environmental front
-So much less waste on the ew, gross, look in the trash can front
-No chance of getting TSS, so you can leave it in for however long (I have a pretty light flow, so I really only need to take it out once a day at most!)
-If your don’t know exactly when you’re going to start and if your period sort of fades away slowly, you don’t have to worry about putting a tampon in just in case
-No need to carry around tampons in your purse or backpack ever again!
-I’ve never had a problem with leakage
Was that TMI?
Well, sorry, I’m just so stoked on it and think that everyone should use it. It’s not gross, it just takes some getting used to. So if you have any more questions, anyone send me a private message and I’ll be happy to answer your questions!
I use one (as you all know) but my daughter is grossed out by the thought. Should I have one sent to her? (And she is going to be traveling in europe for a month this summer.)
God it would be so helpful while traveling. I didn’t know about them when I spent time aborad.
