Engineer graduate goes for an accounting job. Any useful advice?

Asked by mea05key (1822points) March 7th, 2009

I am trying to lay my options as wide as possible and I am currently looking to explore the accounts sector. I graduated as an engineer almost half a year and ago and would appreciate if someone that is familliar with the different lines in accounting firms like PWC could explain what skills are required to be in the job and what is it like working in the different lines. I am looking to go into advisory line or more specifically; performance improvements. Any related advice would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

I would consider getting your Six Sigma certification if you can. Companies are utilizing Six Sigma methodology across all segments of business, not just manufacturing processes.
