How can I get a screen capture on my HP laptop?

Asked by SuperMouse (30853points) March 8th, 2009

As an assignment for my computer literacy class I have to get a bunch of screen captures. The instructions say to press ALT + Prt Sc, but that doesn’t seem to be working. Any ideas what I am doing wrong? I’m not sure if it makes any difference, but my laptop has Vista.

You can either press Print Screen, then open up Paint and press “ctrl-v” or (since you are using vista) go to Accessories, then Tablet PC, then open up the Snipping tool. Go through the options to choose window capture or fullscreen capture.

Hopefully those instrustions weren’t too bad.

alt + print screen should work, but you will then have to paste the image somewhere. You can paste into paint, or a word doc, or an outlook email. Just depends on what you are trying to do with it.

by the way alt + Print Screen will only print the selected window, whereas just Print Screen will print everything on your screen
