It’s usually called Victorian. I have a lamp shade in that pattern, and that’s what it was called. I’ve also seen bed sets in that pattern, they’re called Victorian also.

I think it’s a kind of damask. And it’s very pretty, I like it too.

(the google images results for damask are right on, but the wikipedia example of damask isn’t… hummmm…)

edited to say… Yeah. It’s a variety of modern damask. And that’s my final answer. :)

@Likeradar I think damask is more of a heavy fabric…that type of pattern could probably be made by damask, but I think she meant pattern as in polka dot, paisley, etc.

@Ashpea9288 In just the last few minutes online I’ve found that damask can be used to describe a pattern though… I’m by no means a pattern/fabric expert, so I’m not really arguing with you. :)

Haha, I’m not an expert either, believe me! You could be right, I’ve just always heard that really any pattern can be made by damask because the idea of damask is that it’s a certain kind of fabric that is always a pattern of some sort; as in, it’s not really damask if it’s not in a pattern, and that pattern could literally be anything. So technically, the pattern she’s asking about could be damask if it were made with fiber blends, like wool or cotton or silk, etc etc. But in the case of my lamp shade, for example, it’s simple white cotton with that pattern painted on in black, not weaved in with different fibers and colors, so it’s definitely not damask! If it was it would’ve cost a lot more than 20 bucks, haha. So I think we’re both correct here.

@desiree333 That sounds awesome. I wish I wasn’t a renter so I could steal your idea. Good luck!

If you want an idea of how it’ll look google “miley Cyrus’ closet” trust me its nice. It has damasky looking stencils on the deep pink wall. I would send a link but I’m on an iPod touch
