I am conducting an experiment trying to figure out what people think is the best or favorite number.
Explain why this is your favorite number also. i.e. my favorite number is 8 because it is infinity on its side. Thanks :)

Oh, thanks, should have looked it up.
It’s cool. Maybe there are some new members who never answered it.
@Les: Thanks. I was going to do the same thing, but you’ve already done it.
Use me as your double-blind study. I think this question is silly.
I’m partial to the number 5
Of single-digit numbers, my favorites are 1, 5, 6, 7, and 9. (My #1 choice of those is most definitely 9.) I especially dislike 3, 4, and 8. I am on the fence about 0 and 2, and usually, my like/dislike of them depends on their context.
I hardly ever like 3 or 4 in any context, but 8 is acceptable if it is combined with another number I like. 18 is okay. And even though I’m on the fence about 2, I do like “twenty,” so 28, surprisingly enough, is good.
Unfortunately, I will need to spend two decades unable to escape from 3s or 4s. “Thirty” is certainly better than “forty” though. At least I’ll be one of the few to view “fifty” as a relief.
Everything considered, my favorite three-digit number is 917, and my favorite four-digit number is 5178 (which could be considered surprising, considering my dislike of 8 by itself).
Favorite two-digit numbers include: 19, 59, and 71.
My favorite number is π. Here’s how far I can recite it from my brain: 3.14159265358979.
Yes, someone back in 4th grade brought in a printout of Pi, and I made the silly mistake to see how far I could memorize it. Other than that one day, I have never purposely memorized Pi, yet I can still recall it to the exact precision that I could on that one day.
I don’t get how you can have a favorite number – what’s to favor?
@syz Well when I play the lottery, I pick π – it’s my lucky and favorite number! :)
Facetious comment alert! The comment above was slightly joke-like.
(I refuse to use a symbol to express sarcasm.)
From the math point of view, I know 2 is certainly not my favorite number. (In some sense I hate it.) Because it is the only prime that is even and a lot of times it make some trouble and you need to exclude 2 to come up with what you want!
@syz I don’t know. I just prefer certain numbers.
For some reason, 256 has always stuck out to me. Has no meaning whatsoever. I just like it.
My favorite number is 22 because that is the day of the month I was born. What’s really weird is I have empathy for certain numbers and I dislike others. For example, I find 9 to be haughty, and 7 is feminine. Two is sweet, but 3 is a trouble-maker. Where I’m getting this, I have no idea, but whenever I do math, I honestly personalize every number.
8, but I have no logic for it.
Alright, thanks for the info!
mine is 136
My gf wanted to answer this one too, hers is 25
18 bobisho!!!!!!! i know things.!!!! hahahahahahahahahah!!!JKJKJKJKJK!
My favorite number is 5. Unfortunately, I don’t have a detailed explanation why it is my favorite number. It just has been all my life.
Seven.
Day I was born, day my mum was born, house I lived in for most of my life, number of years me and my Fiance will have been together when we get married in August, year in the 90’s I originally got into graffiti, which led me to take on a career in graphic design (was part of an email address which led to the nickname ben ‘97…), was my personal branding project in college that has become my ‘stage name’ if you like – same across all sites I use. Also, the same number of reasons I gave here if you count this one..
@dynamicduo
And Saturday was Pi Day (3/14). Schools here featured it as a learning opportunity in math and kids ate a lot of pie!!
@VS – Indeed, I was never-ending on that day in respect for it. I am also very happy that the current American government has taken to encouraging math via such an opportunity. It’s a good sign of what will come.
The number 8 is my favorite… it seems to follow me everywhere, so much its just about spooky… I dont know why but i’ve always liked this number, well, I guess its because it represents new beginnings and if you turn it you have the infinity symbol… I just think its a well rounded number. Love it!
Oh and my birthday number is 21 too… weird…
