Thoughts on the Roku (Netflix internet-to-TV streaming) device?
This seems like a cool device. Can anyone who owns this attest to its value?

Never heard of it. But my TiVo can do that just fine, so I don’t see why I’d buy another box.
TiVo series 3 and TiVo HD can, yes. You add movies to your “instant queue” on netflix.com, then go to the “Movies On Demand” menu in Tivo, enter your netflix user/password, and you have access to all the movies you put in your instant queue.
I have the Roku. What I like about it vs Tivo or the xbox 360, is that once you own the box, all you pay is your monthly fee to Netflix. With the xbox, you have your netflix fee plus your xbox fee plus the price of the xbox. The price of the Roku box is much cheaper than the LG blu-ray players, xbox 360 and Tivo.
Roku can now play HD shows as well as Amazon on Demand. By this time next year it is expected that the Roku will have 10 additional channels.
I would recommend that you have a good internet connection. I have a cable connection and always get a four dot quality (the highest) viewing, where at my in-laws I get 2 dot (they have DSL).
@dragonflyfaith Thanks! I just bought it and now I’m excited. I had the same feelings about the Roku vs. xbox or Tivo.
@mirifique Congrats! You’ll love it. You may find the Roku Forums useful once it arrives.
I love mine, but honestly I’ve spent more time picking stuff to put on it and sorting my titles than watching it!
@dragonflyfaith, fwiw, TiVo also does Amazon-On-Demand and Cinema Now in addition to Netflix.
