Would you like to see some good world news for a change?

I came across this story and thought it was worth sharing. It is about how one Brazilian city was able to end hunger.

@LostInParadise: What an amazing story. What a simple concept. I’d love to see stories like that on the front page of the Washington Post. I appreciate you passing it along.

And the US can’t do this…why?

One thing that I particularly like is that the effort was made at a local level. I wonder what other problems can be solved at the city or county level without Federal assistance. I keep pushing, no doubt to the point of tedium, the importance of community. This is a good example of what can be done at the community level.

I would also like to share some good local news. There are so many people making donations of furniture and clothing for the fire victims, they have had to ask a local warehouse owner to donate space to put it all. The pictures on the news of the children who lost everything in the fire searching through the free toys just made my day.

The news that a hospital bed was donated to a grandpa who had to be carried out to his car to evacuate and lost everything proves that the good people in this area easily outnumber the others. His caretaker was a young mother, and they had zero insurance converage, yet have already been relocated in a rental home.

Yes, I have found a wonderful news program to be shown on CNN Thanksgiving, November 26, at 9 p.m. ET/PT called CNN Heros of the year awards.
