If I de-friend someone on Facebook, will they have to confirm it?

Asked by Mamradpivo (9665points) March 14th, 2009

So, I recently became friends on Facebook with a customer of my company’s in a different state. The only reason this came up was that I asked her if she had any pictures of her new store that I could see (I work for a furniture and decor manufacturer) and she said they were online, but on her Facebook page.

Now we’re friends and well, that’s not really what I want. She’s a very nice lady and we always have nice conversations, but I don’t really want to see updates about her kids and I really don’t want her to read my updates, see my photos, etc.

I know I’m not the only one with this concern. If you’ve been in this situation, what have you done to remedy it?

no, they will not have to confirm it. but defriending a client isn’t really the best solution either. consider this instead:

10 Facebook Privacy Settings Every Facebook User Should Know

She won’t have to confirm anything. She won’t even be notified that you removed her.

Nope. So awesome.

Sweet. Done and done.

And, thanks to @ninjacolin I changed my privacy settings and created a friend list of Professional People who I don’t want seeing a lot of my Facebook info anyway.

Thanks folks!

Nope. I just defriended my exboyfriend. It will ask you if “you’re sure,” but that’s it.

If you want to befriend them again they will have to confirm it of course.

Good thing it doesn’t work like this in real life. xD

“How come you never show me pictures anymore? What’s going on with you? We never talk”

“Yeah I totally de-friended you like a month ago.. see ya”
